Thank you all, can't wait for the chocolates! It's always been difficult having a birthday this near Christmas, so much else is happening and of course it gives one's husband the excuse to say - A Christmas present, you've only just had a birthday present! I think he's learnt by now that doesn't wash. One year he did say - Why do you have to have a birthday so near Christmas? - me: It wasn't my decision!
It's been such a busy time that it was only yesterday that my two daughters were both free to take me out for a lovely lunch - there's a great pub called The Thomas Lord in the village of West Meon in the Meon Valley in Hampshire, just off the A32. It's a lovely country pub with a roaring log fire and very tasteful Christmas decorations. Great to have time together. Now it's full on Christmas. We only got our tree in yesterday - the weather was so bad over last weekend that we couldn't bring a dripping wet tree in. I'm waiting for my brother and nephew to drop in and then it's decorating the tree - John will be busy with Rotary so will tie the angel on the top when he gets back - she's a very old angel now - bought her for my parents from Selfridges in about 1966!
The day after my birthday I dropped in to our local chemists to get a flu jab - so much easier than trying to get an appointment at the GP's surgery. The assistant queried as to whether I was old enough to get a free flu jab, considering I am now 7 years older than the required age I felt very good!

I feel your pain Carole, no one ever seems very interested in birthdays this close to Xmas ๐Ÿ˜‚

And aren't we so inconsiderate having it on the same day every year? ๐Ÿ™„

Sounds like you had a lovely day, many happy returns xxx
