Checking In On-line?

Unread post by Boris+ »

Will it ever be possible for passengers to check-in on-line for the cruise (not for a flight)?

Passengers could check-in online and complete the health forms, input the payment card details to be used - resulting in a downloadable and printable item with a bar code. Then down to Southampton, zap the barcode and get cruise card - breeze through security and last one in the bar's a wimp!

Seriously though - I wonder if the day will ever come?

Em :)

Not sure how the computerless Goldies will feel when the plebs in steerage breeze past them and onto the ship.

Seriously though the actual process does not take long and I'm not quite sure what time could be saved. You'd still need your passport checking, and your booking, and you would still need your photograph taking for onboard security. I quite enjoy the anticipation of getting to the checkin desk. Even the snake in Mayflower doesn't perturb me. It's all part of the holiday and the ship's not going to leave without me so I just relax and let it all happen. After all I'm now officially on holiday.

And what happens when P&O's computer plays up. Just think - Community Forum!!!

I'm just wondering if P&O or Cunard would ever contemplate it.

I think I can remember a cruise with RCI doing something like it - but even though it wasn't that long ago it seems ages ago and it doesn't help that I didn't really pay much attention at the time.

What with P & O's IT department record.........Ain't likely is it.

Compared with flying or even boarding a train checking in for a cruise is a breez and something I thoroughly enjoy.

I quite enjoy the Checking in process and even if we did absolutely everything online they will still have to make sure we are who we say we are.

The passport details are supplied in advance and that is the essential part, credit card notification is a waste of time as most will advise one card in advance and then use another one when they get there.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being
