Snow!!

Unread post by Holiday Planner »

An unexpected (but very wecome) snow day means that I can finish putting together my son's bedroom, which I decorated at the beginning of the week. Has anyone else had to change their plans because of the snow?

We have no snow today. Gale force wind, the back door is rattling. Tomorrow's forecast is for snow and I have to drive the OH to the hospital for a cataract op, it is not far but I am not much good driving in the snow. Then I have to collect him later in the day. We will be able to get there, but will the surgeon be able get there? This horrible winter is very trying, even the daffodils are refusing to blow their yellow trumpets. Jay

Woke up to a good 2/3 inches of the white stuff this morning and it's still coming down, fortunately I don't have to go anywhere today, the housework is all done so I will probably just have a day on here ... nothing new there !!

Most estate agents won't photograph when there is snow on the ground as it dates the photos fairly accurately. Then, when the property is still on the market in mid-summer people will know at a glance it has been hanging around for ever if there is snow on the roof

It's snowed all night here, and still snowing - looking at the depth on the garden table, about 4 inches. At the museum where I work in the Ironbridge Gorge, accessibility is very dangerous in bad weather. We had a science activity day planned for today with about 600 school children booked in, and lots of specialists coming in especially to do extra activities ... lots of revenue lost, and manhours wasted methinks :x

No snow here but we have torrential rain and it's freezing.

We also got up to one of the central heating pipes in the utility room leaking badly so have had to turn off the heating - and the cold water supply - while waiting for BG to turn up and repair it, and we can't light the wood burner as we're having carpet laid in the sitting room right now!

So I am VERY, VERY cold! Where has spring gone?

Don't even think about driving Jay order a taxi, when my OH was in hospital last year and the weather was very bad even though it was only a short drive for me and I am a confident driver ( my car even has a snow mode function which is excellent ) I used taxi's because my biggest fear was getting stuck and being on my own, it was well worth it to go door to door and let someone else have the concern.

Yes, Easter's a bit flat in the property market - especially when the weather is iffy so I wouldn't recommend advertsing until the second week in April

Jay - don't you dare contemplate taking the car, it's not worth it. Book a Taxi now - that's telling you ;)

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the Op goes ahead after all the problems booking in in the first place.

Gill - my sympathies. I feel for the Fitters fitting a carpet in cold weather as the carpet is not as pliable as they would want (sometimes). I should know as that it our Business. The number of times over the past few weeks that my Hubby has had to request the heating be put back on is unbelievable. I'm sure the Customers think he's cold - far from it - he has to suffer the heat :!:

I was going to postpone a shopping trip (pre-cruise stuff) today, but at the moment it's just grey and windy (sounds like a Heffalump with a problem) so I'll go out and risk it.

Yes, they have already said the carpet is unyielding, but seem to be getting the job done nicely, I just can't wait for them to finish so I can light the wood burner.

Snowy even in the sunny Wrral, we were supposed to be visiting friends near Hull but decided against tackling the M62 in this! :D

leaves time for packing for our Azamara cruise on Wednesday, hope the snow clears in time for the drive to Gatwick.

You can always unroll your sleeping bag and bed down on platform 2 at New Street if the worst comes to the worst !! Reckon you won't be on your own
