I find it easy to understand why folk don't like to see their travel insurances increased but I do find it much harder to understand why anybody would risk a stroke or a heart attack or even death to avoid paying a relatively small amount. You could take that risk of course but please take into account that it would be your spouse or partner who would take the hit …. .

It asked us, with Saga possibly, if you have any complaints / conditions like pains etc that you are aware of but that have not been discussed with your Doctor.

If there are any they may request that you visit your Doctor or alternately ask another load of questions else refer you to their medical team depending on the Insurer and if it's online or over the phone etc.

I've mentioned in the past to my travel insurance company a condition called 'Frozen Wallet Syndrome', and they didn't have a clue what it was. After explaining that I wanted to declare an upcoming operation for 'Open Wallet Surgery' to pay their premium it took several 'put on holds' and endless re-runs of Greensleeves while they spoke to various supervisors to see if my level of travel insurance would cover me for this risk.

But but.....why disclose any 'self diagnosed complaints' to anyone that could influence increases to your premium?

Just had my annual travel insurance renewal medical grilling.

All good and only a small increase in premium. Then I thought bu99er, I've forgot to declare a recent medical condition, nothing major, but thought best to declare it as I don't want to give them any wriggling room should I need to claim. So I contact them again, and no, they can't just add it, I had to go through the whole screening process again, even though it was only ten minutes earlier I had spoken to them My own fault I know. As it turned out I was covered anyway.

Better safe than sorry.

Due to unforseen medical issue we had to cancel our long awaited trip to Aus and Singapore. Happy to say that our insurers 'Insure & go' coughed up the full claim this morning, they even paid out on 2 items we had no cancellation invoice for, said it was a gesture of goodwill, well done...

Sorry to hear that screwy. As it happens we're with Insure & Go as well, and have been for several years. Good to know they paid up.

This is the time when you truly find out how good they are. Hopefully you will get something else sorted soon
