Who will take over from May as Tory party leader and future PM
Who do our members think will be the new PM?
I don't think a hard line brexiteer is likely to win, and despite Bojo being the current front runner I doubt he will win the ballot. My own choice would be Rory Stewart but I think Michael Gove could win, assuming he stands.

Re: Who will take over from May as Tory party leader and future PM
I don't see that whoever wins it will make any difference. I can't see any solution to the Brexit dilemma that a majority in any party will back.
The Tories are divided, The DUP have a single issue agenda that the EU won't budge on, the SNP and Lib Dems want to stay in the EU, the Greens want to save the planet, and Labour won't back any Prime Minister if it's not Jezzer.
The job is a poison chalice. I'm amazed Theresa stuck it so long. I'd have said "bu**er the lot of you, where's my pension?" months ago.
The EU won't suddenly renegotiate just because we have a new PM. So the most likely outcome now is a drift to No Deal, whoever gets the job. Be ironic won't it if a Remainer wins and then oversees that!
Oooh here's a thought. Noel Edmonds for PM? He already has the right catchphrase!

It makes no odds to me, but whoever it is, he or she will be leading the Tories into a general election quite soon.
The results of the EU elections will carry a lot of sway in my opinion.

We do need a Maggie type leader to drive Brexit. May was lightweight and Maggie would never have allowed Tusk & Co to treat her as they did TM. Their behaviour towards her was pretty disgraceful.

that's a lovely picture of Larry, the other day one of the ministers approached downing street and went to stroke Larry, (obviously thought it would be a good photo call) the cat managed to swerve just in time, and the minister ended up stroking the air instead. well it amused me,
regards gilly.

He needs to smarten himself up though Graham and learn how to keep his shirt tucked in.

I am hoping for Boris, purely for the comedy effect to watch that blustering bumbling buffoon trying to deliver on his lies - and probably because the electorate deserve him.

I don't think Boris will be stupid enough to let himself be the next Tory sacrificial lamb on the Tory Brexit altarKendhni wrote: 25 May 2019, 10:22I am hoping for Boris, purely for the comedy effect to watch that blustering bumbling buffoon trying to deliver on his lies - and probably because the electorate deserve him.

I would tend to agree with that Ray but my guess is that he is positioning himself to become leader once Brexit is settled.Ray Scully wrote: 25 May 2019, 11:52I don't think Boris will be stupid enough to let himself be the next Tory sacrificial lamb on the Tory Brexit altar
The problem now is that whatever the Brexit outcome there will be a high probability that there will be a GE within the next 12-18 months (maybe even sooner) which the Conservatives will most likely loose meaning that whoever is leader at the time will be out - and then in comes Boris on his white charger!
I know that Boris is the bookies favourite and the pundits favourite and that he has declared himself to be a candidate but my suspicion is that he will find an excuse to bow out of the race before the final hurdle.

I wonder what would have been said if TM had done a drunken stagger onto the stage.

For all his eccentricities Boris didn't do badly as Mayor of London.

You could be right, he wasn't the only brexiteer that manufactured some inane excuse to remove themselves from the last leadership election.Ray Scully wrote: 25 May 2019, 11:52I don't think Boris will be stupid enough to let himself be the next Tory sacrificial lamb on the Tory Brexit altarKendhni wrote: 25 May 2019, 10:22I am hoping for Boris, purely for the comedy effect to watch that blustering bumbling buffoon trying to deliver on his lies - and probably because the electorate deserve him.
I am sure that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe will be cheering him on for the wonderful help he gave her.

He wouldn't be my first choice as PM but I don't go along with some of the claptrap written about him.
