Interesting! an understatement Moby, But back to more important matters, can we get the 224 runs this afternoon to beat the Aussies and get a place in the final.
Sorry Ray, no idea …. cricket for me is as interesting as listening to John Major talking about constitutional milestones
I do worry about the lack of sporting interest and knowledge shown by some members of this forum. :sarcasm: :lol
P.S. I am certainly enjoying it So far.
Looks like Sunday will be in front of the TV John :D :D

And me

Spent the afternoon on the sun lounger listening to the cricket in the glorious Devon sunshine.

Mrs B was working so I had to skidaddle quickly when it finished

I think we're going to have to a lot of switching back and forth on Sunday afternoon. John is an avid F1 fan but during the last few weeks when he's getting over his illness the cricket has been a godsend - even I have got to know the meaning of some cricketing terms! Then of course there's the men's final at Wimbledon which should be a cracking match. I know we can record some but it's not quite the same. I did hear someone on the radio this morning saying he planned to watch Wimbledon and would the Radio/TV stations please not give out the results of the other two events until at least Thursday!

We'll be out on Sunday so I'll be recording the F1 and covering my ears during the news until I watch it later

True, Barney.

The quesrtion is, are the members of the Conservative Party happy to have a leader who couldn't give a straight answer to a straight question, even if his life depended on it.

I think they are
It may be worth watching Hunt and Boris being interviewed by Andrew Neil tonight, BBC, 7pm. He's a forensic interviewer who always does his homework, so perhaps we'll get some worthwhile answers :?

It should give Mr Johnson an opportunity to contest views that some have about him being.

I am rather amused that those who accuse the BBC of being left wing have gone very quiet since its damning expose of anti Semitism in the Labour Party this week. I bet they'd have been all over it if it had been the Tories in the firing line!

Oh I still think its left wing and anti Brexit Merv, but I suspect it is also anti Marxist, mind you that might be out of self interest if they think that Corbyn and McDonnell might Pravdatise them if they get into power..

Or it could just be what less biased people call balance.

The BBC has always challenged government, whoever is in power. Just ask Alistair Campbell about his heated battles when he thought they were being unfair to Tony Blair.

What is unusual is to see such an expose on the opposition.

I enjoyed-ish the recent debate between Jeremy and Boris on ITV …. not my usual channel mind but unlike the BBC of late their lady interviewer showed commendable restraint and respect

They are candidates for the role of Prime Minister of the UK and should be treated with due respect … imo.

Point scoring by a self obsessed Newshound achieves absolutely nothing for me but if they are to be ridiculed in any way at all it should take place in the House and be carried out by elected Members of the opposition.

At the appointed time I will be watching Tom & Jerry on SKY 603, tis far less brutal

Your chum Mr Neil tried his very best to discredit Boris but finished up, it seemed to me, showing himself up for being little more than a trap setting bully boy. Did he vote for Scottish Independence and is he an arch remainer I wondered.

Boris would however do well to avoid Andrew Neil in the future as indeed others have done.

If Mr Johnson does become PM I hope he is on top of his brief, as there will be many Mr Neil's out there trying to get one over on him.

… and therein lies the truth.

The role of the media should be to report the facts not to create news by tripping up our elected representatives just to prove how clever they are. It is Ssoooooo negative and simply generates a feeling of discontent among the public.

I do agree that Boris or indeed Jeremy should have a clear understanding of their brief but it is simply not possible for anybody to know every single detail of something as complicated as the ' Withdrawal agreement '.

But hey Johnson as a media reporter has been doing this for most of his working life, surely one can't complain when he is exposed to such practices

I do agree that Boris or indeed Jeremy should have a clear understanding of their brief but it is simply not possible for anybody to know every single detail of something as complicated as the ' Withdrawal agreement '.
But only being aware of part of an agreement so necessary in his exit plans plays into the narrative of not being across his brief, just saying.

I thought it was a car crash of an interview. However, every time Johnson is let loose, it’s a car crash. He’s revealed as a bluffing blustering bully, who is trying to ‘wing’ it.

It’s a truly horrifying and frightening thought that, in about 10 days time, this man could be our prime minister.

I sincerely hope Boris is our next PM for two reasons.

First, but least, because I think JH will be hopeless. No chance of achieving what TM couldn't.

But mostly because if Boris wins one of two things will happen. Either he will deliver the good Brexit he's been trumpeting for more than three years. Or he won't and we'll never hear of him ever again. Put up or shut up basically.

I agree with Mervyn. I find JH a very much grey person, much like Major was, and will say anything to get into power. However look underneath the surface and he is actually promising very little if his plan for leaving the EU is anything to go by.
If he does get into No10 Boris will still be there and a thorn in his side. As PM Boris will need to deliver Brexit. If he succeeds Boris will be vindicated. If he fails that will be the end of him. Call his bluff.

Come on Ray …. :moresarcasm:

First of all Boris will NOT be doing the actual negotiations, he will simply ( not so simply actually ) be paving the way in conjunction with other EU leaders to reach a mutually acceptable settlement … in the knowledge that Boris will walk away if pushed.

Secondly I believe that Boris was right to bumble a tad around the detail, he would have been hopelessly wrong to discuss the finer points of a forthcoming negotiation with the likes of Andrew Mar.
