Re: Football 2019/20
Well, the friendly fixtures are underway are our first match was against mighty Faversham Town of the Bostik League South East Division.
Obviously playing a team of that magnitude, the pressure was on Gills new signings to perform and after a nervous and jittery start, we settled down and played some decent stuff, culminating in a 9 - 1 victory.
Tougher matches are to come , but on this showing, not only are we going up .... WE ARE GOING UP AS CHAMPIONS !
Watch out you Premier League giants.
Gills are coming atchya .

Re: Football 2019/20
Help me out with my dream Team guys and gals.
Any top tips from you Prem big boys about players at your club that go a bit under the radar.
I'm taking a punt on Tiellemans from Leicester as he's reasonably cheap.
Any others I should know about ? (cheap)

A punt on Watford's emerging Venezuelan frontman ' Adalberto Penaranda ' may well pay off ….

Is Andre Gray cheap enough …. he hasn't been firing on all cylinders for a while so this could be his year ?
…. and that's it really.

Re: Football 2019/20
Ndidi any good to you barney? Doesn't score much but seems to have a good tackling ratio. How about Evans. He's played well for us, in some ways better than Maguire so could be worth a shot. Is Ricardo Pereira expensive?

Re: Football 2019/20
How it works is all players get two points if they play.
Keepers and defenders get extra points for clean sheets.
Midfielders and forwards get extra points for goals.
Plus all get points for assists.
So, the top players generally get more points but are obviously more expensive.
The art is finding gems at unfashionable clubs who exceed expectations.
Players from wolves got me a lot of points last season. Of course the same players are more expensive this season.

Actually we are hoping for a good season having made two good signings in Perez from Newcastle and Tielemans from Monaco.

One bad season away from the indignity of the Championship.

Cheers for the loan of that striker Moby
It was a tap in but they all count
I find it hard to get too excited about loanees because we've had so many duffers over the years who fail miserably.
Hopefully this lad and the boy from Bournemouth will actually make a difference.
Big boots to fill as our previous number 9 (now at Hull) had back to back 20+ seasons.

You are welcome, he needs to develop his game, the Gills should help him ….Jakubiakbarney wrote: 06 Aug 2019, 15:23Cheers for the loan of that striker Moby![]()

Re: Football 2019/20
Let's hope so Moby.
It's a win/win if a young player improves while out on loan.
We had a lad from Spurs called Ogilvie last season who came as a left back.
He was pretty useless to be honest and certainly not a starter.
We actually played a right back at left back, which gives you the gist of it.
Anyway, due to injury, he was moved to play centre back as a trial and was really good.
So good in fact that when Spurs released him at the end of last season, Gills signed him on a two year deal.
Maybe Jakubiak is really a goal keeper in disguise
Anyway, you big boys kick off with the first match tonight, so good luck to you all.
The Terriers may well find that life back down with the riff raff is no cakewalk.

Re: Football 2019/20
We once took a loanee from Spurs. He was bl***y useless. He is now a regular in the Spurs team by the name of Harry Kane.
Maybe they told him if you don't pull your finger out that's where you'll end up!!!
We also had Jesse Lingard from Manu and he wasn't up to much either. Just shows it pays to be patient with these young lads.
We have had a good transfer window. Harry Maguire raked in £85 million for us and we have bought Perez from the Geordies, Tielemans and Praet (both Belgian internationals so a good pedigree and a young full back from Luton. We needed to bolster our attack from midfield which looks like what we have done.

The Terriers Moo-ey gets another shot in the Prem, on loan for one year with Brighton … do hope he's a flop for this weekend when they get to play the Hornets
Our long ago Spurs loanee was a feller called Danny Rose, I wonder what happened to him

Re: Football 2019/20
I've stuck Brighton signing Maupay in my dream team as third striker. Pretty cheap and scored loads in the championship last season for Brentford.
Bench warmer behind Aguero and Abemeyang.
My team looks good on paper, let's hope it looks as good on grass.

Burtons Premier league loan players were better than our Premier league loan players.
