Traumatised by groping of ' Royal Tunbridge Wells ' Darzet

I was innocently queueing up at a bar in a Northampton pub when a lady who was at least 20 years my senior decided she would like to re-organise my trouser furniture … repeatedly. I still have pleasant memories nightmares about it even though it was over 40 years ago.

Question is can I claim compo and should I complain to the Police Commissioner given that she was a serving officer.

Disgraceful behaviour

Isn't that sexist? Surely sexual assault is sexual assault?

I thought so too, also, I wondered if ' Gill W ' was implying that if it had been Mrs Bojo groping the accuser would it have been ok ?

I agree with Mervyn, sexual assault is sexual assault, whoever the perpetrator is.

However, Moby, I was talking about your response to your experience.

You made a bit of a joke about it, crossing out 'pleasant memories', as if it was something have a bit of a giggle about.

I was just wondering if the perpetrator had been a man, would it have been something you would share with us in a humorous way, or something you wouldn't tell a soul, because it was so embarrassing and humiliating. If the latter, it gives you an insight into why many women don't report the uninvited random gropings they have experienced.

You are quite right Gill I did make an amusing, for some, story out of my experience that day but I fail to see how you can connect a fabricated homosexual assault upon my good self with an unwilling straight woman being groped by a very willing straight male.

I have no way of knowing if she encouraged him by her own behaviour of course and I can readily accept that the experience could have been a bad one as far as she was concerned but to jump up and down about it twenty years after the alleged event is a tad ridiculous … in my opinion.

Exactly.

If your house is burgled or your car gets stolen, you don't think, mmmm, I'll leave it for today and report it to the police in 20 years time.

I don't know the facts of this, or any other case, but it is almost an everyday occurrence that an unknown member of the public makes an allegation about a "celebrity" - take Cliff Richard for example. One side has everything to gain and the other everything to loose and as the saying goes "mud sticks".

I believe we did think Gill, and since Boris has firmly denied anything improper took place, we have decided to adopt the normal British view that until there is any evidence to the contrary, he is innocent. It's just a shame you are not prepared to grant him the same favour.

A key point for me Gill is that alleged sexual assault is of course a serious and often difficult and embarrassing issue for the victim. Which is why I find it difficult to understand why such a victim would write about it very publicly in a national newspaper, rather than discussing it confidentially with the police and asking them to investigate. The latter would surely be less embarrassing and allow police to interview the alleged perpetrator and allow them to present their side of the story and face trial, if there was sufficient evidence, and appropriate sentence if found guilty. Unless of course the object was not to achieve justice. Which is why I am deeply suspicious of this woman's motives and therefore the credibility of her story.
