Re: Happy Birthday CaroleF
Thank you very much. What a day to have a birthday - Election Day and it's pouring with rain! However, I'm being taken out to lunch by my daughters to a very nice hotel, well haven't been there before but it's got a good reputation. One lovely thing is that John is making good progress with the treatment he's receiving for Vasculitis. The Consultant is very pleased and says John can consider himself in Remission now. He's still got to have another three infusions of the drug that is suppressing his immune system as Vasculitis is where the immune system attacks healthy blood vessels and causes nerve damage. These infusions are now three weeks apart which is good and I'm starting to see something of the old John apart from the fact that he won't be able to climb on church roofs anymore - repairing tiles broken by young hooligans! He's still finding things very frustrating but learning to cope with what he can do, not concentrating on what he can't any more. Hopefully 2020 will be better for us than this year.
So today is a good day, much better than I thought it might be a few weeks ago. Whether it will still be a good day when the Election results start coming in remains to be seen. Fingers firmly crossed.

Re: Happy Birthday CaroleF
Well those chocolates must have got delayed in the Christmas post - no sign yet! The Pig at Brocklehurst is on my list but haven't been there yet. My elder daughter insists I'd love it. We went to The Four Seasons hotel at Dogmersfield near Hook. It was fantastic. The Christmas decorations were absolutely lovely, quite understated but so attractive. My elder daughter took me and my sister-in-law to the hotel where my younger daughter waited with champagne at the ready - I've brought them up well! The service at The Four Seasons was impeccable, very friendly but not intrusive, the others all remarked on it. The food was lovely too! My present from the girls was really the lunch but they also bought me a lovely framed photograph of my three grandchildren.
After a very yukky drive back home to near Southampton through driving rain I prepared to watch the Election results. I wasn't sure how long I would stay up as we were off to Dorset on Friday afternoon and elder daughter and family were coming with us so I daren't stay up all night. I was so nervous when it came to the Exit Poll, just hoping for at least a small majority. I can't remember being so worried about any election so much before. When the Exit Poll was announced I, along with many, many others couldn't believe it. John said he was off to bed now he knew the Poll result but I had to stay up for a while just to make sure that the pollsters hadn't got it entirely wrong. Eventually I think I went to bed about 2.15am, very relieved. As we've been in Dorset for the weekend I've missed much of the follow-up apart from what's in the papers. I have heard that Jeremy had the right policies but it was the fault of the BBC and media that Boris won! Well I'm very pleased and hope that at last things will get done.
Maybe those chocolates will arrive tomorrow!

This isn't the first time l've been informed of a late delivery ...have you checked with your neighbours just in case they have been dropped off there?
In the mean time l will making exhaustive enquiries into what has gone wrong. Sadly, due to the popularity of keefy chocolates l can't discount foul play as being the culprit. Not wishing to make excuses but there are those who would love to tarnish my reputation, indeed you may have noticed yourself some cruel comments that have been circulated on this forum about me?
As you will appreciate every undelivered box of keefy finest feels like
another nail in my coffin...Ouch!...l just hope you and Gill receive your choccies tomorrow or else l'm dead meat.
Love and kisses to you both
Keefy
