Question Time
I can't quite put my finger on why but for me QT seems to have lost its way. What l can say is that l much preferred David Dimbleby chairmanship style than that of Fiona's. Maybe it's that David seemed to be well briefed on the previous week news, whereas with Fiona l get the impression she spends her time looking through the previous weeks antique magazines which could account for why she lacks assertiveness in trying to keep the panel focused on the issues.

Re: Question Time
She is nowhere near as rude as DD was, but I do agree that at times she does have difficulty in controlling some of the panel

Re: Question Time
Interesting national characteristics seem to have emerged !
If you're pro-Megan and Harry then you are "woke", "right-on", and a credit to humanity.
If you are anti (or even don't care one way or the other) then you are "racist", probably white, an uncaring user of the earth's resources and an absolute pariah.

Re: Question Time
I'm not keen on Fiona either. For my money the programme seems to be much more about her with her constant interruptions. She rarely allows the panelists to get a word in edgeways so the responses become disjointed and lack depth.
Nowadays it appears that anybody who is 'white, middle class and male'is the scourge of the earth when confronted by left wing idealists. The woman who was trying to discredit Laurence Fox was wrong on all counts. It seems to me you do not disagree with or criticise black people or have a contradictory opinion otherwise you are charged with being racist. I am pleased Mr Fox stood his ground with this woman (an ethnicity lecturer at Edge Hill University).

Re: Question Time
Well said OBF. Why should any of us be labelled racist just because we disapprove of the behaviour of anyone. Sue was called"white trash" by some guy when all was doing was drinking tea in our own garden.
Question Time is always going to have its confrontations. Let's face it Dimbleby was always going to be a hard act to follow

Re: Question Time
Is it racist when a white person is abused? Considering some of the comments made by certain London Labour MPs it would appear not. We have a Black Police association and awards for Music of Black Origin, to name just two. What would be the reaction if the Association was for white police officers or as she waswe had music of white origin.
Whilst we have examples such as these we will never achieve diversity or integration. We have become frightened of criticising other ethnic groups and it is disgraceful that Frank's wife should have been abused as she was.
Oddly enough we have had peole of Chinese origin on these shores for years but I cannot recount there being any complaints from that ethnic group Amusingly I saw a quote about the Chinese. It said they don't care who owns the cow just as long as they can milk it!!! Seemingly they just get along with their lives.

The fact remains there is racism in this country most of which is directed at those of black origin.......but perhaps less so from Lecister City Supportersoldbluefox wrote: 18 Jan 2020, 21:29Is it racist when a white person is abused? Re: Question Time
But just how much Keith, there are so many black actors and sports-persons on TV nowadays that they have become just as much a part of the fabric of our society as any white person. Pauline and I discussed this only yesterday and both of us agree that we have never considered whether Meghan is black or white, to us she is just an attractive (ex) TV personality who has married into our Royal family, and the same applies to any other black person on TV, they are just who they are.Onelife wrote: 19 Jan 2020, 09:37The fact remains there is racism in this country most of which is directed at those of black origin.......but perhaps less so from Lecister City Supportersoldbluefox wrote: 18 Jan 2020, 21:29Is it racist when a white person is abused? For the minority who do display racism, I feel sorry for them that they are so insecure that they need to take out their inadequacies in overt displays of racism.

Re: Question Time
Hi John,
My view is that we are all intricately racist, black, white, sexisem, ageism you name it we all have stereotypical opinions that categorise difference people into different boxes.
The bottom line is that anything that can be considered contentious can be manipulated into biases that ultimately sets one person against the other.....how the masses respond to this is left in the hands of those who have most to gain.

Re: Question Time
Sometimes I believe those who bleat on about racism are just as guilty of racism as those who practise it.
