What a busy few days
Well, technically speaking, I am back in the ranks of the unemployed having a week off while between jobs. The last few days on my last job were absolutely hectic and I was very sad to leave the company and top quality colleagues behind.
In the last few days I have been out car hunting and, having had a look what Germanic automobilia was available in my budget, I have opted for a brand new Hyundai i40 Tourer .. what an incredible dashboard and a lovely car to drive. I took delivery of it last night and am still trying to find my way around all the buttons and gadgets (fully loaded with equipment).
So now I have rest of the week to relax and start getting up to speed with my new job which starts on Tuesday (it appears nobody wanted to pay me for a couple of stat days over Easter).

For the first time in years I had the Christmas period as holiday a couple of years ago. After a couple of days I was regularly reminded of all the jobs that needed doing and I had a vision of what retirement would be like.

What I meant was having looked at the prices being asked for a second hand BMW's and Audi's (with limited equipment) I decided to go for a brand spanking new Hyundai.david63 wrote:Not wishing to be pedantic - but since when has Hyundai been Germanic??

Good luck with the new car - and many many happy miles (especially to join a cruise) to both of you.
Meanwhile - the important bit - did the garage give Julie a bouquet of flowers? If not - why not spoil here with something spherical and choccie?

We've had a Getz for the last 7 years - very reliable and we'd gladly have another Hyundai.

Hyundai seem to be a good seller and numbers are increasing.
Ken, is it very fast?
Do they do a sports car these days? I don't mean that awful coupe thing they used to do!
Cheers

Poole Boy, I don;t have that problem since Julie doesn't drive .. she just expects to be chauffeured everywhere.
Here is a snap of my new car ... my borther refers to it as the 'pimp mobile' with the privacy glass

Could it double up as a hearse.

I don't get to choose the colour ... Julie always chooses the colour ... I didn't like it at first but it has grown on me.poole boy wrote:I see you choose the same colour as we did
Having seen the black version of it I would say 'yes' ... even the sales man referred to the black one as 'The hearse'.Ray Scully wrote:Could it double up as a hearse.![]()
Not particularly fast (about 10.5 seconds 0-60) but, being a diesel, she has a lot of torque. Since much of my driving is done in rush hour traffic that isn't really an issue for me.GerryM wrote:Hyundai seem to be a good seller and numbers are increasing.

I suppose the sportiest car they do over here would be the Velostar (it has the strange configuration of having 2 doors on one side and one on the other)

We bought a new hyundai a few years ago - my other half insisted - it was like a baked bean tin - one little bump and it crumpled. Soon went back to the germanic tanks!
