Caroline Flack R.I.P.

Unread post by Frank Manning »

Very sad news this evening. Love Island does not interest me, but for an attractive 40 year old to lose her life in this way is terribly sad, and a reflection of the fleeting nature of celebrity. R.I.P.

Shocking news - she won Strictly Come Dancing as well as hosting Love Island - unimaginable grief for her family - I know she had a court case hanging over her but she obviously needed help - so very sad.

I feel the same Frank, what sadness.
My thoughts are with her family.
I once worked with someone whose husband hung himself in the family home, leaving her and two children under 5. The pain and grief of having to deal with the police and the coroners inquest was nearly too much to bear.

Happily now ten years on she has made a new life for her and the children.

Very sad news.

We will probably never know the reason why she took her own life - whether it was the impending court case, social media or she had other problems but it brings home the pressure that comes with fame.

Very sad, she obviously needed psychiatric help rather than facing a court case.

Very sad, but the press rats and trolls show no mercy once they get their fangs in.

Absolutely right Ray. We live in a world where trolls feed off sensationalism in vitriolic press. No one is safe anymore.

A sad situation with a tragic outcome. You never know what stresses and strains others are under until something like this happens.

Reports in the papers this morning says she had been informed on Friday that the court case was going ahead,
clearly this must have been a trigger.

This is very sad.... A desperate final act for what are normally temporary problems.

You are right Frank.....The media have the power to make or break a person at their own choosing.

The red tops in particular deal in sensationalism. However there are a lot of maggot trolls with nasty unthinking minds who feed off the stuff and add to the vitriol with nasty comments.

Social media is deffo a problem but only if you read it and worse still believe that what is written is the truth.

I think the bigger problem for Caroline was that the CPS had decided to proceed with the prosecution, despite her boyfriend not wanting them to proceed. It seems to me that the judicial system needs to find itself a conscience.

I agree Towny. And yet the same CPS let scum off the hook for much more serious offences over technicalities.

The CPS needs to stop being judged on its win ratio, and concentrate on bringing cases which they believe are in the public interest, even if they are not certain they can win.

BBC's Breakfast Program explained that a trial is required if the evidence is supportive. In this case it seems that it was overwhelming and the boyfriend's plea / retraction has no bearing on the matter if only because the person in question should face trial to prevent any repetition in the future …. apparently.

Typical bl**dy lawyer speak, they just want to keep themselves in jobs, about time we had a good clear out of the legal swamp.

But how about evidence that her actions might have been influenced by mental illness? Does our system have no compassion or common sense. The same book of rules that led to this lets killers out on license to kill again in a couple of years. It's insane. If that's the rules we need to tear them up and start again.
