The big bad wolf of climate change will gobble her up.

I think Merv must feel a lot better after getting that off his chest.

I'm still saving up to buy a yacht for my trip to the US next year.

Regarding Greta Thornburg.....

I feel sorry for this young lady and if l were her parent l would be feeling very apprehensive about where the climate change bandwagon is taking their daughter. Whilst l don't doubt the girls commitment in wanting to be part of the climate change lobby l do wonder if a 15/16 year old has the mental resurces to sustain the figurehead position that she has been thrust into.

Her parents would do well to remember that she is little more than a child and this kind of focused exposure won't make for a well rounded young lady in the future

My advice to mom and dad.would be...she's done her bit now let her grow up at her own pace and amongst her peers.

From what I've read in the past it may be others who are pullng the strings. I can't see her organising zero carbon yachts and all the rest. I fear she is a figurehead being manipulated because the media won't challenge a child, least of all one with a perceived disability. An adult would not be able to get away with lecturing us the way she does.

I have no doubt that others are pulling her string and writing her scripts......l agree Sir Merv, this is now a case of child exploitation.

Why does Greta always look so angry? It is not natural for someone of that age - or any age for that matter.

I do not mind a peaceful demonstration /protest by blocking a road, but do draw a line on any type of vandalism.. In my opinion, the digging up of Trinity Collage lawn was pure vandalism and does nothing for their cause. What do some of these 'protesters' do for a living?

I doubt they work Ray, that would interfere with their protesting.

Why doesn't that interfering baggage Greta just leave us alone? Why is she picking on us again, in Bristol this time? If she's really interested in climate change she should be asking herself "was my journey really necessary?".

Our carbon emission are 1% of the world total.

We've made more progress in reducing them than anyone else in the developed world.

We were the first country to put a net zero emission commitment into law.

China emits 27 times as much as us. The USA emits 15 times as much as us. India emits 7 times as much as us. Germany emits twice as much as us.

Why doesn't she clear off and demonstrate there?

Maybe her Mandarin isn't as good as her English. Or maybe she knows she wouldn't get much of a welcome.

Sorry for repeating myself but....

.....life isn't going to end well for this young lady i fear.

After that lot managed to stop the third runway at Heathrow over environmental issues, re the UN Paris agreement, they can now apply the same to road building.
As if we do not have enough with tree huggers, colony of bat's that appear, lizards that are endangered, but seem to be thriving where any development wants to take place or the little whirlpool ramshorn snail as big as your small finger nail, that can hold up duelling a stretch of the A47 Acle Strait for five years to see if the little buggers are settling in to their new home,we now have this lot sticking their noses in.
Got that off my chest, feeling better now.

Why don't we just dig up the whole of the A47 and grow asparagus on it …. just saying

ps …. me and Boris didn't want the third runway anyway.

I am beginning to accept that we do need to take much more action to slow down and ultimately reverse climate change. But no country in the World seems to have begun to consider the implications these changes will impact on the standard of living reductions that they will obviously require.
If there is to be a positive move to reduce greenhouse gases then economic activity will have to be dramatically curbed. This will not be acceptable to many, and is likely to result in friction between nation states as each seeks to reduce the impact on its voters.
Rather selfishly I am glad that I am unlikely to be around to see the probable conflicts that might ensue.

The tree huggers should stop protesting and get out there and plant more trees. Not only do they absorb carbon dioxide they also soak up water so help with reducing flooding. Bringing a city to a halt simply increases pollution and damages their cause.

Miles and miles of traffic queues on single track A roads create an enormous amount of pollution compared to a free flowing dual carriageway.
We have lots of farms in the county that grow asparagus Moby and I am not effected by Heathrow problems.
