Just as well our old friend QB isn't still here to see that. You know how he loves a nurses uniform. He'd be banging on the door with his fake cough :D

… but I would tend to go when it is quiet.
Having said that we have just been to do our weekly shop and it was manic, just like Christmas. There were people with shopping trollies loaded to the gunwales with whatever they could find to throw into them. Why the siege mentality? Meanwhile we could not get the bare essentials we would normally get.
Quite …

As I mentioned in my OP we did a BIG SHOP last Thursday and although the vast majority of the items were delivered these did not include any meat nor veges. We normally go shopping for these early to mid week and arrive just before 13:00 on the basis that the shoppers will all be at lunch and we will have the shop to ourselves.

Not today, it was heaving and most of the shelves were either empty else nearly empty. It looked like the place had been looted or trashed, we got about half of what was on the list.

We chatted to one of the regular staff members and she told us that the lorries had arrived at 04:00 and the shelves were duly re-stacked. At opening time there were over 50 shoppers queuing at the door with the larger trollies and by 10:00 the store was virtually devoid of storable and freezable food.
We went away for the weekend, so we're intending to do our shop tomorrow.

I normally plan the weeks meals in advance, but this time I'm not bothering, and will just get what I can.

I know I was ridiculed for prepping for Brexit, but I knew that it doesn't take much to start a panic, and I wanted to be able to stay away from the stores while the panic was on.

As the next Brexit flash point isn't due until 31st December 2020, I had let my stocks fall, and was intending to restock from the summer onwards. I know that I have enough for a full two week isolation and a bit more (but the meals might start getting a bit odd.) But in the meantime, I really hope I can shop as normally as possible.

It will be novel if shops start asking us for ID to prove we're under 70! Maybe I can borrow my younger brother's passport! We look pretty similar.

Tescos, good, occasionally busy later.
Sainsburys, moderate to good, sale on Corn Flakes.
Asda, slight to moderate, heavy crowds by evening.
Marks and Spencers and Co-Op, fair.
Waitrose fair to moderate, spillage in aisle 7.
Lidl, rough at first, moderate later.

And that's the end of the Shopping Forecast.

To keep you entertained while you are quarantined there are a couple of good antipodean TV programmes worth watching. An Aussie one on BBC1 called 5 Bedrooms, should be available to catch the whole seies on iplayer, and A New Zealand series called The Brokenwood Mysteries.

We're in a bit of a predicament in that we can isolate oursrlves but our daughter (who is living at home) will be starting her first real job on 6th April. The work she will be doing is centered around the Shropshire area so it makes sense that she uses her home as a base. Other than setting up a tent in the garden it's a case of.....well fingers crossed l suppose. She dose however have a realistic chance of securing a much better job in a few months time, however there are no guarantees that she will get this job

Mom and Dad are reluctant to push her in either direction but from a selfish point of view l'm hoping she opts for the latter. How would you feel about the situation.
