When it is all over, the big money giveaways will have to be paid for to top up the government funds.
Do I see big Tax risers on the horizon?

We are not in the age or vulnerable catagory. We go out and keep the safe distance required as best we can.
You look after yourself and I'll do the same.
Perhaps your apparent light hearted approach is your coping mechanism.
Anyway, look yourself too.![]()

Hi Ray,

Now that is possibly the most accurate comment you have made recently OL.Onelife wrote: 23 Mar 2020, 21:16About time Boris...
The ironic part of this lock down is that those who have been flaunting social distancing will be the ones who get treated first.

I work on the principal of one in five.....same as my tipping

Play nicely boys, otherwise you will be sent to the naughty step.

Not all of the old and vulnerable are used to doing as they are told. Our 89 year old chain smoking next door neighbour ("I'm nearly 90 you know") takes the view "They ain't tellin' me what to do. I went all through the blitz". Another on Solent radio today with a similar selfish attitude, it beggars belief. I had a nice email from Sainsburys today to inform me that I was in the vulnerable category and would be prioritised for deliveries, which was very nice. I cant even get on the Waitrose site, and I think they just don't have the logistics to provide for this situation.

The old bugger can do what he likes of course but he won't survive a dose of the Coronas …. Oh, no.Frank Manning wrote: 24 Mar 2020, 15:16Not all of the old and vulnerable are used to doing as they are told. I don't think the isolation will bother either Sue or Me. We enjoy each others company and laugh a fair bit. Do you think it will be allowed to go out just for a drive in the country? I can't work that one out.
Trying not to sleep after lunch.
Do they still do that down there? Even up here that went out years ago. I suppose the AA man in his jodhpurs salutes you as well!Manoverboard wrote: 24 Mar 2020, 15:37I personally think it's ok to go for a drive but I will be phoning a garage, who use an attendant at the pumps, and making an advance card payment for say £25's worth.

Hi Gill,Gill W wrote: 24 Mar 2020, 16:36We went out to do our Sainsbury's shopping this morning, and proper social distancing has now been brought in.
We had to queue up outside (everyone maintained a proper distance from each other) and they let us in to the store in batches of 20. Store staff and security guards were doing the marshalling. the atmosphere was calm, and everyone way complying. Some shelves were still depleted but lots of fresh food. We got everything we needed, so I'm hoping this will calm everyone down. That's our shopping done until next week. We have our daily permitted exercise, but apart from that, we won't be leaving the house.
