You should get some tips from Mob about cutting up logs........just make sure you have some parcetamol within easy reach  ...ain't that right Mob :)
Dead right Grumpy Bashful … I was chopping up a log or six to make some kindling and still have a very clear one and a half inch diagonal scar across my finger to prove it
I cut my finger just from the bl**dy thing rolling over gently after putting together and the chain caught me. And it wasn't even plugged in. Razor sharp.

Anyway, just ordered some ear defenders as I find it very noisy. And as I suffer with titinus as I call it I want to hang on to my hearing for a while longer.
I'm not sure I'd be messing with a chain saw at present. A trip to A&E doesn't seem enticing! :sarcasm:

Hi Stephen. I’ve been using my chainsaw for three years without losing a leg so here are my best four tips for a long and happy life.

(1) Get yourself a sawhorse ..Screwfix do one for £20

(2) Be methodical in your approach e.g. no trip hazards… Make sure your stance is correct. Chainsaws are heavy so take regular breaks

(3) Stay focused

(4) Buy all the protective gear…. but you won’t do that... but do make sure you have heavy duty glove and face shield and your fluffy pink ear muffs

Timber, timber, timber I cry, if a tree don’t fall on me I’ll live till I die.

I would add to these,

Wear safety boots

Never try to cut anything above your chest.

Thanks everyone for your tips. I noticed Merv only gave 10p though :D

Puchaced Screwfix saw horse recently ✅

Have new safety glasses ✅

Already have safety boots ✅

Already have heavy duty gloves ✅

Ear defenders - yet to get.

I've decided I don't feel comfortable with this chainsaw. For one thing it is way to noisy for my liking, so it will be going back. Might take a look at the battery pack ones.

It looks a nice bit of kit. I assume this is the one you have.

How long does the large battery pack last when cutting?
How how long does it take to re-charge the battery?

I note it only has a 1200W motor which seems a bit lame.

Just a thought Stephen..........is it the case that you can make good use out of a chainsaw or is it for a one off job?......If it is the latter then if you are willing to make two journeys to Shropshire you can borrow mine.
