Did any of us ever think the day would come when we would all be getting excited about available delivery slots for food from the supermarkets.

I tried to do some sorting and tidying the wardrobes today only to be horrified by the amount of clothes that I possess still with labels on and never worn. I have made the decision not to buy anymore clothes for a long, long time. The only trouble with that decision is that I am not sure I will still be able to fit into them, I can't stop eating !!!

The only good thing to come out of this awful time is that we will hopefully have much more appreciation of all the good times we have had and all the things we possess and take for granted.

Stay safe everyone.

I love buying clothes, especially thinking that will be lovely for the next cruise.
However not bought anything for at least 6 weeks and dont need anything either.
Money saved put towards another holiday.
Like others I have way too many clothes.

With regard to deliveries from Sainsburys I have been sent some lovely bottles of Chardonnay £10 a bottle which is a substitute. They refund you the difference with an online voucher.
It's been interesting ordered a chicken pizza and was sent a spinach and ricotta, loved it and would buy again. However that didnt go down well with other family members.

The acid test will be next week with my 92 year old father he is very particular with his brands. He used to give me a shopping list with the sizes of items and wasn't pleased if you bought back something larger in size !!!!
He will just have to lump it but I know exactly how the conversation will go.

I wonder what the record is for amendments to an on-line order, and will Sainsburys get upset with me if I keep changing things. I have already added one missed item to the order, and now have a further list of additional ones, plus Pauline asked why I had ordered milk chocolate McVites digestives when we always have plain, so that will need changing, and I am sure there will be plenty more before next weeks delivery.

Great Torrington, which is where my wife’s shop is, has a fantastic local community.
51 independent shops, most of which are now temporarily closed, but two butchers, two bakers and two greengrocers still serving the community.

It’s very famous for the Mayfair, which has obviously been postponed plus a biannual ceremonial burning of an effigy by the Cavaliers.
So they are looking at doing a virtual Mayfair and will burn the full size replica of the Mayflower when appropriate to do so.

There is a very strong sense of supporting the local community.
Long may it last.

Sainsbury's will neither know nor care but your Credit Card Provider may smell a ( non existent ) rat and block the payment. You will then need to phone them with all the waiting that that may entail.

I'd better leave all the remaining changes until next week then just in case, and if that upsets the credit card I need to remember not to log out of my Sainsburys account, then my earlier order will get delivered.

If you did need to ring the Card Provider you would probably lose your slot.

For what it's worth we would compile a list of meals for the following week, meanwhile adding things as and when but remembering to ' save the trolley ' before you exit each time. Only when you get a slot should you go to Checkout.

Staying Logged On is not an option as the website will auto log you off after a short period of time.

We've been using Online shopping with Tescos for 18 months now and often make lots of changes between booking a slot and the delivery, which is often 3 weeks after booking.
With the current situation of ever changing availability, any given order may be amended 20 or 30 times with no problems either from the store or card provider.

That is simply not the case for ALL Card Providers regarding Sainsbury.

We're making a supplementary list as we think of things and will top up the order on Monday. Presumably the credit card issue is they will put in pending payments each time you amend it rather like the cruise company do.

Most likely, any update will deffo result in going through ' Checkout ' again but the different amounts will not appear on one's Card Statement. My appreciation is that once the items have been picked the charge that relates to the final order pre delivery will then be charged to the card. But remember that the delivery slot may no longer be available and especially so if you make a change within 24 hours of the delivery date.

I have always been able to keep the slot as long as you check out again once you have amended your order.

Yes with Sainsbury's we had to pick the slot then do the order so my understanding is the slot is secure. The confirmation email says we can amend the order up to 11pm rhe night before and we will be charged the final amount.

You are correct … the ' small print ' has changed since I had issues with the Card Provider because of multiple updates and the time taken to resolve the matter.

Being a novice to online ordering I am enjoying finding out how it works, and being able to look at previous orders seems quite a good feature, as you can see I am already planning my next order.
For you experts, how do Sainsburys collect the boxes they deliver the groceries in, I assume its boxes since it says the delivery will be bagless, and with CV19 I am assuming the driver will leave the groceries outside, or in our porch if he reads the instructions.

At the moment they are using Cartier bags due to the virus and it speeds up the process.
Before that it was all just loose in the crate and you unloaded it all.

This week the driver just stood there and I did it all the unpacking and he signed formit.

We went for a wonderful walk today.
We headed inland instead of the beach and walked up the lanes.
It was stunning with fantastic birdsong.
When we reached the high point, the views back down to Instow was stunning.
Can’t believe we’ve never been that way before.

We saw four other people on the way.
Now giving the old knees a rest in preparation for our bike ride on the tarka trail tomorrow 👍

I’ll have plenty of years of sitting in the chair, God willing.

Previous orders is great if you order the same things week in / week out. An alternative suggestion is to select from ' Favorites ' but also to review ' Favorites on Offer ' for things that you don't need this week but may need the following week.

The driver should phone on arrival and departure, he will leave the bags wherever you have requested in the Special Instructions panel. He will leave the listing and the receipt but you will not be required to sign it.

Fortunately I had shut off valves fitted Merv otherwise I wouldn't have touched it. As it was it was bloomin tight to remove and the new one wasn't quite right but it works.

I only just spotted this.

I assume this is a wonderful typo or have Sainsbury's gone really up market!

Or do you order on line from Fortnum and Masons?
