At the moment they are using Cartier bags due to the virus and it speeds up the process.
Before that it was all just loose in the crate and you unloaded it all.

This week the driver just stood there and I did it all the unpacking and he signed formit.

I assume this is a wonderful typo or have Sainsbury's gone really up market!

I wonder what the record is for amendments to an on-line order, and will Sainsburys get upset with me if I keep changing things. I have already added one missed item to the order, and now have a further list of additional ones, plus Pauline asked why I had ordered milk chocolate McVites digestives when we always have plain, so that will need changing, and I am sure there will be plenty more before next weeks delivery.

I made changes to our Sainsburys on line order up to an hour before the closing, and they handled it with no problem. As for other comments about substitute products, we have been quite impressed with Sainsburys.

Finally, for me, plain chocolate digestive biscuits beat the milk chocolate variety hands down. But I am banned from eating them by Sue for waistline considerations. Trouble is, if I have one biscuit......it's very quickly one packet.

BBC's Spotlight program recently did a bit about farms and farmers in Cornwall, they were reporting that they cannot get their usual Eastern European migrant workers to pick the vegetables but lo and behold after publicising the need …. every vacancy was filled by good ol Brits.

The theatre I go to in Canterbury has closed until 18th June, and we have tickets for a show booked on 8th June. They will be in touch individually regarding our 'options'. I already have two shows booked in August and October which may or may not go ahead, so don't really want to book another show.

We also have various things booked though out the year.

There's a coach trip to Beamish at the end of May. I was due to pay the balance last week, and the coach company just told me to leave it for a few weeks before they make a decision. I'm also booked with the same company for a coach trip to the Edinburgh Tattoo. I heard a couple of days ago that the Tattoo has been cancelled, along with the other Edinburgh Festivals, so no idea what will happen there.

We also have various day trips with another coach company. The first is due on 2nd May, to the SeaCity Museum in Southampton. I phoned the other day to see what was happening, and they are ' waiting to see if the museum will be open'. Hmmm, almost certainly not, I would think.

If seems like its going to be a fight between the entertainment providers wanting to hang on to the money as long as possible, and the customers who want to get their money back

We managed to get a Morrisons box delivered and we have a slot for an Iceland delivery tomorrow.
We'd been trying for the last fortnight for a slot, have full trolleys at various supermarkets but not a sniff of a delivery slot.
They should keep us going for a 2 or 3 weeks at least.
Put out the patio furniture yesterday in anticipation of a fine week.

I have always started a shop on Sainsbury's and then got the slot. Only used to use home delivery post cruise so we didn't have to worry about getting milk etc. or big shops for parties. Now they are a blessing. I use the "search for multiple items" box which lets you make a list then search each item in turn. If I use favourites I end up ordering all sorts of stuff because I can't remember what I've already added!

is anyone else feeling guilty at ordering no essentials? We usually buy a bunch of flowers each week but I can't bring myself to ask for home delivery for them. I'nm feeling guilty enough because someone has asked for chocolate digestives to be added in!

You're right, we are only ordering essentials too.
Maybe this is an opportunity to lose some weight?
At the moment we should be on Oceania Riviera and enjoying first class cuisine and I know I would be packing on the pounds.

We're not buying anything other than normal and if I'm forced to go myself I will but hopefully we're now on the system for a weekly delivery.

In the meantime I shall be very annoyed when my one daily walk with the dog for half an hour close to home gets scuppered because some idiots can't cope with the simple guidance of stay home except for work, one form of exercise near home per day, for medical purposes or shopping for essentials and don't make non-essential journeys.

Which part of that suggests you can go out to picnic or sunbathe with your mates in a crowded park or on the beach? But I'm afraid they are either too think or selfish to comply so I think full lock down is now inevitable.

If it happens so be it. I just want this thing under control before many more people suffer or die.

I order only the items that we always order as per our 49 day Menu system but I have popped a couple of bunches of daffs and some Lindt milk chocolate truffles for Mobietta into the next slot

For those of us born after WW2 this pandemic will probably be the defining event of our generation. I wonder if, in years to come, children will ask the equivalent of "What did you do in the war Daddy?"

So a report back on Sainsbury's shopping. It arrived as booked on Tuesday with only one item not available and only three substitutions, all acceptable. Two were the same price as ordered. One was a jumbo box of cereal in place of the smaller box we ordered and we've been credited with the additional price, so that's a bargain.

I went back on the site after the delivery and booked a slot for next Tuesday. There was an oddity over delivery cost which I have now fathomed out. On the list of slots there were various prices, from £1 upwards and I grabbed the £1 option. Once I'd done my preliminary order, which will be topped up over the next few days, the delivery had shot up to £7, which rather horrified me. However, now having studied it, the rules are orders over £100 free delivery, orders under £40 it's £7 delivery. Between £40 and £100 it is the price quoted on the schedule of slots. So having added a bit more to the order it's back down to £1.

I should add we were more than satisfied with the selection of fresh stuff we got. So we may be sticking with deliveries for much of the time in the future. When we can go out again there are plenty of things I'd rather do than tramp round supermarkets!

For completeness it is certainly delivery of orders over £100 that are free but there are restrictions like only on certain days and only during the afternoon slots post 14:00 hrs. ( unless they have changed the rules again )

That may well be the case as it is a Tuesday afternoon slot we chose. They tend to be the cheaper presumably because working people need weekends or evening deliveries.

They are the least booked, in normal times.

I have booked an early morning slot on the Tuesday, regardless of cost, because the masses could well descend following the Bank Holiday period and clear the shelves by Tuesday afternoon.

Nope they must be the,same, my order was over £100 but it was morning and I was charged £1.
However I still cannot find a free delivery slot for the next order maybe Merv could advise what magic he used to get one.
