Exeter's out, it's bl**dy miles away.
May have to picket Yeovil even though we normally avoid going there if at all possible

Re: Current Affairs
Thanks QB. The one we would normally go to is the B&Q warehouse at Meir Park, which is on that list. It's big and uncrowded in normal times so could be worth a look.Quizzical Bob wrote: 23 Apr 2020, 09:39B&Q have re-opened 61 stores to the public. Unfortunately it is not easy to find out which ones they are through the B&Q website which is operating a queue system.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 22 Apr 2020, 17:32My immediate DIY needs are things I need to browse to select, things like some new laminate floor and some bits and pieces to finish off a bathroom refurb I started a couple of months ago. So I need to go into stores to choose them.
If you’re lucky there might be one on this list near you

Just seen QB's post about B&Q re-opening some stores. So you could get sandpaper.

And the day of Shakespeare's birth and death too. I don't think it was Covid though.

It's okay. A 60 degree cotton wash seems to do the trick. And the fabric softener makes it smell lovely.Stephen wrote: 23 Apr 2020, 12:16You must b e struggling with your hair now Merv........now the launderettes are shutMervyn and Trish wrote: 23 Apr 2020, 11:26Just seen QB's post about B&Q re-opening some stores. Just forwarded to Sky News if that's okay. They were a bit short for the teatime bulletin.screwy wrote: 23 Apr 2020, 13:16Being an uncouth knuckle dragged I’m not really into Will but it is an ex girlfriend’s birthday but don’t tell the wife...Mervyn and Trish wrote: 23 Apr 2020, 11:28And the day of Shakespeare's birth and death too. Don't be silly. There is a lockdown you know. Well done boys. That has been one of the funniest exchanges of repartee I have seen on this forum. Crikey. After B&Q opened some branches, as QB kindly mentioned above, our local paper has reported huge queues to get into the nearest one to us. I may leave it a while. It was the same initially at supermarkets round here but they're much quieter now on the odd occasion when I have to go out for something I can't get delivered.

Mrs B went to Tesco at 10.30 this morning and reported back that there was hardly anyone in there.

When I went to Morrisons yesterday I only had to wait about 10minutes to get and managed to get most of what I wanted. Although flour is still not available unless I wanted to buy 15kg
also this week dog food was limited again! I've got enough the moment.
Overall it was very peaceful experience
could cope with it staying like that, no one blocking the aisle with trolleys while they chat

Re: Life after Lockdown [Split from Current Affairs]
Mrs S was at Morrisons at the new NHS opening time of 6am today and was only one of two customers in the store. Loads of staff and managed to get most things. For some reason though Morrisons own skimmed milk (red 1ltr carton) haven't been on the shelf for weeks since this all started. Brown muffins are also elusive.

If they do start opening things up again, I'm not going to rush out and start doing things at the first opportunity. I'm going to wait until the rush dies down and see what effect the easing of lockdown measures has on the new virus cases.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 23 Apr 2020, 17:34Crikey. Apart from essentials (including the hairdresser) I think I'm going to be mostly socially distant for a while yet. I do miss simple pleasures like going out for a coffee, but I feel lucky that I'm at a stage in my life where I can keep a low profile and not have to worry about work.

Us too. We’re all gne through a lot to get this far, I’d hate to see us go backwards.Gill W wrote: 24 Apr 2020, 15:41If they do start opening things up again, I'm not going to rush out and start doing things at the first opportunity. I'm lucky. Trish has cut my hair for the past 30+ years. So I can still get a haircut. Mind you I make her wear flippers and a snorkel and stand 2m back when she is doing it at the moment. Those long-handled garden shears are so handyGill W wrote: 24 Apr 2020, 15:41Apart from essentials (including the hairdresser) I think I'm going to be mostly socially distant for a while yet.
