We bought some seed on Ebay on Sunday which arrived today.
The baby robins are now sporting stumpy tails and pecking at the lawn as well as going on trial flights / flutters but still ready to accept food from mom or dad.
We do get pigeons occasionally and i have to say a tap on the window will generally scare them off.
We did some gardening today and the birds are always quick to inspect the turned soil.
Great fun watching them all.
Luckily we don’t have any local cats, must have been very upsetting for Jan

Our house backs onto woods and today I heard a woodpecker.
We see lots of different birds I like the Jay's.

Just a little update on our “garden bird” nest count….as of today we have Wrens sitting on eggs, our Crows are also sitting (too high up to see what they are sitting on) our House Martins disappeared for a couple of weeks but have returned today. What we thought were Pied Wagtails (in the lid of our gas tank) are in fact Robins (sitting on 5 eggs). Our House Sparrows babes have hatched.

On a sadder note our beloved Dotty (chicken) has flown off to that coop in the sky :( . She developed a prolapsed vent which despite our best efforts we couldn't get it to stay in ...sadly after a week of trying I had to do the dastardly deed. No flowers but cash donations to the Onelife cruise appeal would be most welcome…thank you.

On the plus side that's one less meal to think about.

I put up nesting box a couple of days ago. Too late for this year but looks good. A bargain to from Morri and Sons

Supermarket prices 80-90p.

As an aside, I went for the Makita electric saw in the end. Great tool

In that case because our chickens eat better than what l do l shall charge £1.30 half dozen as quality is guaranteed. They are so good that the eggs even come out with the kite mark already embossed on them.  :D

......

Glad you got sorted with a chainsaw.....petrol or battery?...hope you went for the battery oporated one as the noise level is greatly reduced and should prevent you having to wear those silly pink fluffy ear muffs that you love so much :)

The clue is in my previous message :sarcasm:

I wear ear muffs, not because the Makita ELECTRIC chainsaw is too noisy but because I suffer with titi-nus, which comes from years of working in the motor industry.

Can I claim compo :)

Great tool according to Stephen Jonty and l'm sure he is right....unless you've got a half metre girth tree trunk to cut through these electric/battery chainsaws pack a powerful punch.

The one thing l would say ( listen up Stephen) when the time comes that you need to get your chain sharpened it's best to get it done professionally, you can diy but you will need the right tool to do it properly.....cos getting the right cutting angle is very difficult.....
l will be buying a new chain when restrictions are lifted. :(

Great bit of kit Jonty, highly recommend. I've been cutting some hefty logs and it went through them with ease. Good long 30ft cable as well, and the 14inch bar is more than adequate.

If you are interested in getting one make sure you buy from a UK spec supplier with the three pin plug.

You clearly don't like quality eggs with your bacon sarnie and HP sauce :D
