I have always had milk delivered but my supplier only has extras like eggs/OJ/potatoes and the problem I find with veg and meat boxes is the sheer amount - too much for me. My son "oop north" has been having veg/fruit/meat boxes delivered throughout the lockdown and they have found them very useful. They are both teachers so working from home online and not going out unless absolutely necessary so shopping in the village and getting home deliveries. Not sure they are saving though as they seem to be getting lots of items delivered from "t'internet"

I know what you mean about quantities, even for two of us.

Our milkman has previously only done limited extras like eggs, yoghurts, and bags of potatoes.

But he and his family run a farm and they've just introduced the veg boxes and they are very flexible. You can choose what you want The only thing in fixed quantities are potatoes (1kg) and carrots and mushrooms (1/2 kg). Everything else is by number. So you can buy 1 leek, or 1 pepper, 1 onion or 1 tomato, for example.

Now that would be just right for me

Well waiting for my P and O refunds and lost a Warners deposit.
Overall food spending up as we are buying a bit more wine and some nice ales for my husband.

Fish for the pond were delivered today and waiting for 4 hanging baskets.
Only bought one item of clothing since the lockdown.
Did pay a deposit yesterday for an April Canaries cruise on Arcadia as it looks like I will lose my October cruise as well.

So I would say we are up a bit at the moment till the refunds come back in to the account.
Oh and as we are having to wait for the engineer to mend the dishwasher in the end we may have to buy another one.

David63 Is you’re wife not able to download ebooks from the library. Had read somewhere that it has become very popular. Just a thought.

Last time I looked our library did not have a very good selection and if I remember correctly you cannot (or at least could not) download them to a Kindle

I also use "BookBub" for kindle books you can pick the categories you like and they send you a choice via email everyday a mix of free and low cost. You make the purchase via Amazon there are other this ways to purchase no commitment. I sometimes choose a few then can go for a few weeks without anything appealing. Have tried ones I would never have thought of

No new orders for the last two months and there won’t be until the theatres and racecourses reopen.

Even less chance of any European or international sales either although we did get one enquiry from Singapore a couple of weeks ago.

I’ve not included these savings either Lindsey - not the Sky sports packages - I don’t subscribe to them but certainly hair appointment every 6 weeks and nails and facials etc. What has surprised me is that I’m not using cash and haven’t been to the cashpoint in months - it’s been all card or online payments.

We have been getting weekly Sainsbugs slots, unlike the old lady down the lane, so we get her some of the things that she likes rather than needs. She only pays in cash ... no idea how much she has squirrelled away but we are at least six weeks in with the arrangement.

We, or should l say my wife is doing the same thing for the 86 year old chap down the road......farm shop marmalade and ginger cake last time .....how nice is that especially as she won't take any money for them.......l'll be delivering his next order myself

One of my best friends has a factory that manufactures aluminium facades and he has now closed and furloughed all of his staff.
He has completed all of their jobs but has no orders on the horizon.
Even is they come flooding in after lockdown, he has about a three to four week wait for the bespoke material to arrive.
He suspects that this may be the end of this company after nearly thirty years of trading.

I still after 20 years get that sinking feeling when I think about how I lost my business….to see something taken away from you through no fault of your own is a bitter pill to swallow.
Absolutely devastating and my heart goes out to all who find themselves losing what they have worked so hard to build up.
