Youtube fixed it

Youtube has always been my first port of call whenever I need advice on fixing things, whether they be in the house or garden…today's job was to fix an office chair which wouldn’t stay up due to the cylinder leaking. Youtube came up with two fixes, one I dismissed straight away because I didn’t have a hose clip, the other option was to cut to height a two-inch plastic water pipe which I split down the middle, then placed around the chair upright. I then neatly wrapped duck tap round the plastic pipe to secure…. job done!

My previous job was to replace the belt on my petrol mower…not straight forward to the naked eye but much clearer having watched it on YouTube.

Have you any success stories using Youtube?

I did once look at youtube to see if I could add extra capacity to my laptop hard drive, but when it got to the bit where you needed a hammer and very fine chisel/screwdriver to separate two halves of something, I quickly abandoned the idea.

A key broke off in one of our PVC door units. I searched trying to find a way to extract the key but then found that replacing the entire cylinder was as simple as undoing one screw, taking two measurements and ordering a similar unit of Amazon for under £10. It even came with 3 new keys (which was handy because the key that broke was the last one we had.

I had to replace the ink cartridges on my printer for the first time. Took a while with the aid of YouTube, I can now do it without instructions .

I know what’s known as the May drop but I thought I would give our pear tree a helping hand in thinning out the clusters of pears…..I was unsure which to leave and which should go so checked it out because past experience taught me even with the May drop you still have loads of small pears if you leave the them to do their own thing….the only downside is that its taking me ages to get them down to one pear every 4 inches….thankfully the apple tree is less laden.

I’ve used YouTube to learn how to re-pressurise my combi boiler - I needed the backup of watching someone actually doing it rather than reading instructions and now do it when necessary on my own.

I was looking on YouTube on how to replace a watch battery for a Skagen watch as they are different to standard watches. Trouble is you need a small pressing machine to clip it back together.
It's the little things isn't it like being able to pop to the jewellers or the market for new batteries.
Buying bedding plants from the nursery,getting the engineer out to mend the door of the dishwasher.
Getting car serviced and mot the list goes on.
This is the first week that I have felt really fed up.

My watch battery ran out about two weeks ago and l can honestly say l feel naked without it.....when l last had to have a new battery l took out a lifetime battery replacement offer..... £16 pounds or there abouts but not a lot of use now Timsons is shut.

I've been thinking about wearing one of my wife's watches but l would need to carry a magnifying glass to see the numbers and hands.

Just ordered some garden plants from Mark's and Spencers, expensive for what they are but they will brighten up the pots on my patio.
Gone mad and ordered a new hose reel from Amazon as well.
Not spending it on much else.

By comparison neither Mobietta or myself are wearing our watches on the basis that if we're not going anywhere why do we need to know the time. We eat when we are hungry and go to bed when we are tired etc ..... seemples

Need to wear my watch or it stops but all my other weekly mileposts have gone. I only have ‘if I clapped yesterday, then it’s Friday & I’m due a Crunchie’. Speaking of Timson’s my daughter’s watch needed a new battery and (I forget the exact figure but) it was about 130% to have lifetime refitting compared to a single battery.
I guess they work on the principle that many will change to a new watch or lose the lifetime guarantee ticket before too long. With cloud storage & phones keeping tabs on the ticket isn’t a problem.

Learned to crochet by watching You Tube. Must also remember to wear watch, as it is requires movement to keep it working.

I wanted to reweb and tighten up webbing on our conservatory furniture but wasn't sure how to get it more than habd tight. On Youtube they used a little gadget which pulled the webbing really tight until you could staple it in position. I had some bits of wood lying about so I made myself one and voila the job's a good un.
I have used it for all sorts of jobs around the house but more often than not for issues with the computer. It's a mine of information.
