Thankfully the use of animal testing for cosmetic products has long gone. I can’t say that I’m too keen on using our nearest animal relatives as guinea pigs, however, because of their genetic makeup one perhaps can understand why. I don’t like to see any animal suffer whether that be in a sporting context or scientific research….but it does bring us back to the question of… only the strongest survive…with of course a little help from our less advanced primates.

Sadly onelife that is not actually true. We still use animal for testing within the UK (what tests are they used for behind lab doors I don't know) and where the British public deem the thought of animal testing to be unpalatable they simply ship those tests overseas before selling the products in the UK.

I know you mentioned 'cosmetic products' but, on a slightly different, but very similar note, animals are still abused all over the world for drug testing. There is no secret that many of the COVID-19 vaccine candidates have already moved, or will soon move, to animal testing.

I'm no animal activist, like many l choose to turn a blind eye to what goes on behind closed doors......thankfully or not depending on your prospective most governments restrict media coverage of what really does amount to animal cruelty behind closed doors.....For the greater good and all that l suppose.

However l'm sure if we were exposed to what goes on we would all be out there with our banners.

Sorry, should have pruned your post. The bit that we no longer test cosmetics on animals - it still happens but is done behind closed doors or farmed out to other countries.

Knowing testing was part of their rehabilitation program would go a long way in deterring those would be criminals from committing crime....but hey!..The snowflake brigade would much prefer the softly softly approach along with the £43,000 per year price tag.

I know it wouldn’t be ethical to do such a thing but I see nothing wrong with a weekly thrashing of the birch as a deterrent .... behind closed doors of course

That is likely to be the fans view but our manager wants the season to be completed to ensure a reasonable promotion and relegation outcome, even though we are only 3 points above the relegation zone.

At the end of the day it will be about what the players think for it is they who are taking all the risks.

Of course we have to be careful but there are some children who have been attending school throughout this crisis and I cannot recall any problems having been reported - although there probably are some.

In general young children do not have a problem with Covid19 (and yes I know there are some exceptions, as there is with everything in life) so in my opinion with proper measures in place they should return to school.

I think that one of the big problems, not only with schools, is that the unions are going back in time and trying to flex their muscles.

Schools, along with all other businesses, have had six or more weeks to plan leaving lockdown - why have they left it to the last minute and then start complaining?

Agreed. They asked for 3 weeks notice and that's what they got. And the back to school message has come with the "if the science says it's safe" caveat. A judgement that will be made closer to the proposed time.

As an ex teacher I agree with you wholeheartedly. Much of this is purely political. Some of the excuses are embarrassing.
Of course there are risks whatever you do in trying to get out of the lockdown but there are still two weeks to go before the children are due back and the scenario could be totally different by then, and if it is still no better I presume the government will delay.

In two weeks time we could see the results of not adhering to the two metres rule. I just hope not.
