There have also been many occasions where direct questions of a political nature were put to them by journalists whose main purpose has been to find a split between them and the government.
Interestingly also, it's a while since we saw Kuennsberg or Peston although Rigby was yesterday spouting her usual venom, that is, until she was cut off by Mr Hancock. I admire the ministers for maintaining their composure in the face of aggressive interrogation bordering on rude.

Rigby is like that nodding dog on the back shelf of your car, only less entertaining. Ugly to boot.

They don't - they've stopped the weekend briefings because audience numbers were dropping, or similar.
Yes they do have them - perhaps they may be stopping them in the future

Saturday 7th June - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfOM7tgE3L0
Sunday 8th June - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOWTgW85ouk
You’ve got the briefing for 7th April, and the 8th June was yesterday (Monday)

I agree Foxy, particularly the bit I have highlighted…however, whilst sage and onions go together, it still leaves me thinking who is getting stuffed when it comes to the scientist being allowed to disclose what they actually think.

One interesting statistic I found from browsing the BBC data for cases and deaths in our region. Throughout W Yorks the ratio of covid deaths to cases is about 30%, whereas the national data is about 15%.
Which suggests that the bigger cities have a much higher proportion of cases to deaths than the smaller towns, although Leeds is similar to the rest of W Yorks,
Now why is that?

No idea but I have just decided to simply keep a weekly eye on the rolling averages of cases and deaths. Tells me everything I need to know and want to know, especially so if the trend continues downwards. The anomaly in Dorset is that our figures are higher than the National average, I would have expected them to be far lower :?

Could be any number of factors. So long as you're safe and the numbers are falling I'd not worry too much. Just enjoy your picnic at Durdle Door. But don't jump.

Applause for Lord Patten, Chancellor of Oriel College who has spoken out about the Cecil Rhodes statue, pointing out how many black students have benefited from the Cecil Rhodes Foundation and no issues when the late South Africa President Nelson Mandela struck a deal with the Cecil Rhodes Foundation to offer the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship to students.
You cannot wipe out history so all the changes which BLM are proposing merely attempts to wipe out any evidence of the slave trade. Better to leave it in place as a reminder of the past which should never be repeated. Statues should be used to show what these figures did, good and bad but demolishing them serves no purpose whatsoever apart from satisfying the activists.
I'm afraid the BLM activities and rhetoric of the past few weeks has done little to ingratiate itself to those who don't have a racist bone in their bodies. All it has done is to antagonise and damages race relations. That applies equally to many black people who are quite shocked by their behaviour.

One BLM activist on TV likened the pulling down of statues of slavers, as having similar status as the pulling down of the Berlin wall.
I am not sure of the similarity, but would want to point out to him that there is a section of the wall that has been left in place to provide a reminder of what it stood for. Perhaps these activists should be channelling their energy to use the slaver statues to similarly educate our understanding of the evils of slavery.

So Slimeball Starmer sees fit to kneel, well Ive knelt once and that was when i proposed ( yes i know i'm a softie at heart) The only other time i will kneel is to the Fallen ( the glorious dead) and to my Monarch....not for some criminal thug and gang of anarchists. You can dress it up as you want.

Having stood up real close to the Berlin Wall and some of these recently tarnished statues I would also wish to advise that there is no similarity whatsoever, none at all.

Perhaps Dachau, Bergen Belsen and Auschwitz should have been razed to the ground but indeed not as they stand today as a reminder of a barbaric period in Western history.
Pleased to hear there are black academics saying exactly the same so maybe the tide of reason is beginning to flow. Leave the statues but explain who these people were, what they did and why they are there otherwise all you are doing is burying history which helps nobody, black or white.
Sadiq Khan? He can go in Room 101, along with Kay Birley, Maitliss and the rest of my lefty liberal troupe. (The list is getting longer! Soon be no more room left!!! )

And so say both of us

Mobietta and I have visited those places, often with tears in our eyes but the one thing that stood out even above the gas fired boiler that had been made in Britain was the fact that we were standing shoulder to shoulder with teenagers on an educational visit. So special so emotional but only because they were Jewish kids from today’s Israel.

Two scientists present and contributing at today's briefing. Detailed explanation of current R rates and infection rates. Is everyone happy now?

I am actually happier that we went for a lovely drive today, albeit in the drizzle, and that we have arranged another Sainsbug's delivery for next Tuesday morning.
