I can remember using a crank handle on an engine but I can’t remember what kind of engine I used it on...the first one to tell me gets a box of keefy chocolates

The art of cranking was not to grab the handle, for a kickback on the fingers was so painful.
I think the old 100E was cranked, what about that one OL?

Hi Ray...this looks something like the car I had...and I’m now wondering if my first car was a crank start?….I can’t ever remember driving it as my father was doing something to the cylinders…So I’m now thinking it must have been sold on before I got to drive it?

Stephen.....Our car was due a few weeks back but as you are allowed a grace period of l think three months we have decided to leave it.......do you know if when we get its mot will it start from the date that it is mot'd or is it back dated to the date of when it should have been mot'd?

It's 6 month grace.

If you can get it done now I would, Come the revolution when things start getting back to normal the world and his mother will be trying to book appointments.

As for back dating, I doubt it very much unless you have any time left on your current certificate. It will be a regular 12 months certificate. That's providing it passes. And going by the look of you motor I don't think you need worry about a pass. The only pass your likely to get is straight pass the garage to the scrappy.

Stephen.... l normally read posts three times as l struggle a bit with comprehension.....anyway, l must have read your post twice only because l have misunderstood what you were saying.

What a dimbo l am.....l read your post such that the Mot would be backdated to the original expiry date and as the wife's car was due in the middle of March l thought l might as well get it done.

Just read the Mot information and as you say l could have waited nigh on 6 months before having to renew my MOT... and still get a twelve months MOT ticket .

Anyway just in case we meet in the future you might have to explain to my wife as l've blamed you for the mistake!!....."mom's the word" ....mate

Just remember that to extend past your MOT you are still required to keep your car roadwothy. If, after having an accident and the police find it was caused by defects you should have had repaired, and injuries to others resulted, your insurance may be invalid and the resulting actions against you could cost dearly.

Well, it’s a week later so time to set off on our second lovely Darzet drive but this time we reversed the route so that it looked entirely different to the first one. This time we saw another tractor pulling a muck spreader, incredible isn’t it, and another partly built house but no sign of a Bambi or Scotty Dog .. we did however see several fields covered in bright red poppies.
