We arranged some years ago to do all our NS&I stuff including Premium Bonds on line. I don't remember how easy it was to set up. We have prizes reinvested directly in new Bonds. We can invest more at anytime by debit card and cash out at any time into our current account and both work quickly.

NS&I are one of the worst bodies to deal with - they take so long to respond (even in normal circumstances) and get so much wrong ... .

Couldn't argue with that ... we set up Accounts to enable us to purchase Premium Bonds every Xmas for our Garnd Children, NS&I changed the rules so that their Father had to be the custodian of their Bonds. That was a big enough fiasco but when one of them became 17 and wanted to cash his Bonds in to put towards his first car the NS&I had managed to lose all trace of them. It took us ages and a lot of hard work to find someone with a brain and the ability to get it sorted out properly.

We haven't bought any since nor do we intend to

From my own experience you need to have around 20k in premium bonds to have a pretty good chance of a monthly return.

So Lady Screwess has been banging on about redecorating the Lounge for months.She wants the ceiling skimming and the old curtain plinth taking off. Had a word with the plasterer just before lockdown, no problem he says. Started stripping the paper off and took off the plinth, he calls me to say he can’t find any plaster anywhere,apparently there is a shortage due to stopping production due to lockdown. He just called to say the merchants are hoping to have some early July.

Yes a lot of the gypsum needed for plaster comes from Spain near where we were on hols last summer. I imagine lockdown there halted production and export.

I have half a bag you can have for £250. Not many lumpy bits.

My son had the same problem - the plasterer had loads of work but no plaster However last week he managed to get some and the job has now been done

A major source of Gypsum used to come from a by-product, something to do with scrubbing sulphur out of the coal burning power station emissions; and of course we haven't used any coal fired power stations now for several months.

Looks like Jewsons and Travisperkins have stock screwy, although Jewsons are limiting it to five bags per customer.
