I suppose you mean me

I say that when they they originally brought in the alert system, loosening of the lockdown was only to start when level 3 had been achieved.

However, whilst still at level 4, they’ve been loosening the lockdown as if we were at level 3 and in some cases level 2.

So they are still making it up as they go along.

Perhaps it’s a dead cat to take attention away from the tracing app debacle

I too am unclear why 25% are not traceable. They must have provided accurate contact details to get their results. As for checking against a database surely that is step 1 for the tracer? I don't see the point of another step in the process. Of course the 25% of people may be deliberately uncontactable. Not answering phone. Not responding to texts.

Interesting point ... Normally, if our phone rings and a name is not displayed we ignore it unless of course we are expecting a call. It will ring again a couple of times if it's important otherwise it was not or it was a wrong number. Ditto texts.

I am surprised you don't have your phone with Sky, then you could let Skytalk shield be your secretary and answer any unknown numbers. It has certainly stopped all out unwanted calls, only callers who need me for a genuine reason stay the course and she then politely asks me if I want to talk to them.

Our phone has Call Guardian.

It stopped nuisance calls immediately.

I can hazard a guess!

Re the App, it was always a trial. The purpose of a trial is to see if something works. Sometimes they don't. That doesn't mean the trial is a waste of time. If we know they do work we don't need a trial. We don't know the Apple/Google App works either. I'm with David in not trusting either Google or Apple with my info so I'm much less to download their app that a government one.

The drug that has been found to help with Covid was subject to a trial. If the trial had found it didn't work would it have been a waste of time? They're trialling several vaccines. They won't all be a success. Does that mean those trials are a waste of time?

And a word on tests. Again we don't hear much of this from the media and the naysayers now either. Maybe that is because the system, I can say, with close knowledge is working. My daughter works for a Care Home. Under the system now in place they have tested all their residents. They found 4 out of 100 who were infected but are well with zero symptoms. That has enabled them to put additional precautions above what they were already doing in place around those four, which will help stop others catching it. They have also tested all the staff. That is the second time my daughter has been tested. They'll test them all again in a couple of weeks. That will be her third test. That is a good and sensible reason, rather than conspiracy theory, why the number of people tested is fewer than the number of tests.

Don't worry. The critics are already lining up to attack Tory austerity when we have to start paying the bill. But one way or another we will have to pay it, through cuts or increased taxes.

Lockdown officially finished the day of the eye test in the Castle.
I fully expected Johnson to be useless and he hasn’t disappointed.
I’d expect him to be ditched by the Tories by summer 2022.
There’s no way they will allow him to fight the next election.

Re the App, it was always a trial. The purpose of a trial is to see if something works. Sometimes they don't. That doesn't mean the trial is a waste of time. If we know they do work we don't need a trial. We don't know the Apple/Google App works either. Test and trace have been a complete shambles (as I predicted) even if one were available ( in the way they were going to roll it out) it was doomed because of all the naysayers, including those who frequent this forum who won’t be using any app whether it be Google, Apple or Human tracing.

The government didn’t take into account the reasons why many wouldn’t use the app or abide by the advice had one been available. To suggest that all these attempts were just trials is a bit of a cop out. The real reason is their failure to understand the magnitude in getting everyone to believe in something that has no fail safe mechanisms and no prospect of working, especially with the mindset of people in this country…..why?.. because when push comes to shove, we are all intrinsically suspicious/selfish people and only care about our own needs…me being the exception of course

Hi David…I am waiting for a hospital appointment but have no need of public transport.
I’ve only been out twice in three months but on both occasions I did stick out like a sore thumb wearing my face an gloves, but hey….my predictions have been stop on up to now so keep making your face masks we’ll all be wearing them in a few weeks’ time…we’re still playing catch up!
