We have just sacked our 2nd, despite him virtually guaranteeing us Championship football next season.
Nice to see Huddersfield giving their mates at Leeds a helping hand into the Prem. :sarcasm:

I think they were going to be promoted anyway, otherwise I would have been a little concerned.

I'm surprised Watford have got rid of Pearson ....
I am not overly surprised after watching the West Ham game last Friday evening.

The players played as though they weren’t really interested in a game that was potentially winnable and one that would probably have saved our season. Instead of playing for the badge etc they went three down without a whimper, then after half time Pearson sent them out far too early as a statement of irritation. The Owners would surely reason that if this Manager could not inspire them to at least try to win that one what chance is there against Man City and Arsenal. They would also ask if he was, after all, the right man to manage them next season ... perhaps our ex player and Manager, one Mr Dyche, will return to the fold if we remain in the Prem ?

Sorry Mob my old mate but the Hornets have become a bit of a football laughing stock.
There is no way in a million years that Dyche or any other manager in a job would leave to join that basket case of a club.
Don’t do well, you get the sack.
Do well, you get the sack.
Think back to your situation before Pearson came in.
He did brilliantly to do what he did with a Championship squad.
I think they will bring in another foreign manager that no one has heard of and he’ll be gone by Xmas 😁

Got to agree Barney. I don't see the sense in sacking a manager with just a couple of matches left unless there's something backstage we know nothing about.
With Watford's track record it makes you wonder who, of any worth, is going to want to take them on.

Local, Watford, gossip suggests that there was a physical altercation between Pearson and one of the players at half time ar the Hammers and that, not for the first time, there was a shouting match after the game between him and one of the owners. I also doubt the wisdom of the timing but if they manage a point or two in their next two matches then the decision will be vindicated. Dyche may or may not be our next Manager but I believe that his job at Burnley is done and it’s time for him to move on to a fresh challenge.

I think there were similar situations at the City plus a disrespectful occurrence in Thailand involving his son which would certainly have upset our Thai owners so it seems there is form. Famously he told one fan who was giving him grief "F*** off and die!" This may explain why he has been removed at a particularly sensitive time for Watford.

So, now Watford have to win the last game to stay up?
Sacking Pearson may turn out to be an expensive mistake.
As we all know, it’s harder to get up than stay up.

I cant see Arsenal slipping up twice in a row, but I can see Aston Villa taking at least a point out of West Ham.

Pearson would also have been put to the sword by Man City but perhaps the chickens have finally come home to roost ....

It was clear that Pep was angry about the sacking of Pearson so did he do a ‘ rah, rah, rah ‘ for Managers vs Owners by encouraging his team to screw up our goal difference. It was certainly a surprise to me that Arsenal were unable to score against that leaky Villa defence. Arsenal will do us no favours on Sunday either given that Deeney used to taunt them about their coujons, West Ham and Watford have previous and Moyes was also angry about the Pearson sacking so a 1:1 draw against Villa seems quite possible. That leaves Everton vs Bournemouth and they could slip up there because of the hostility that arose during the Silva debacle. Can’t beat a good conspiracy theory I always say

On their day we can beat Arsenal but will it be their day when playing without two of their key players ... it’ll be a long wait until Sunday but ‘ one ‘ can only hope that the results go Watford’s way :problem:

I must say that as an impartial observer , it's a great end to the season.
The relegation battle in both divisions is fascinating.
Given that a few Championship clubs are on points deductions, it won't be over even when it's over.

Even then it might not be over! What are the clubs who initially will escape relegation if the point reductions are applied going to do about planning for next season. If they plan on being in the Championship and spend accordingly, what do they do if the points appeals are successful and they are then relegated and see their budget slashed?
Only our football authorities could end up in this ridiculous situation, talk about not being able to organise a booze up in a brewery, definitely describes our useless football authorities.

Absolutely right John.
My club has already lost 3 out of contract players including the skipper because the EFL haven’t said when the season will start.
We cannot commit to wages without income.
Other clubs have taken the chance.
Bristol Rovers have been spending big after going £24 million in debt and getting it cleared by a benefactor.
League one will have some huge clubs joining Sunderland, Portsmouth, Ipswich and of course the Mighty Gills 😂

ManU are playing a strong team tonight vs West Ham, ex Hornet Ighalo is on the bench and poised to score a brace. A good result for Manu will ensure the Hammers put Villa to the sword ... fingers crossed :shifty:

Handed it to you on a plate. Too many schoolboy errors cost us :(
Seemed inevitable that Mob's lot would go. At least they won't be scoring any more last minute goals against us next year!!!

Instead of counting sheep I counted Championship teams last night, got to 19 and fell asleep ....

The owners you may be surprised to discover are fiercely loyal to their Watford’s players and staff, albeit less so towards their coaches. They stated from day 1 that they could only remain in the Premiership if it was financially viable to do so, latest gossip from town sources is that they have had to arrange a secured bridging loan which could imply that they can no longer afford to replace their ageing players. The loss of crowds and fan base support must have had a major impact on all the smaller clubs operating without the benefit of a Thai billionaire. One’s relegation, although not welcome, may turn out to be a blessing in disguise by allowing them to rebuild at a lower less expensive level. It was good while it lasted and ironic that we came up and went down with fellow strugglers Bournemouth, Villa are a bigger club but will they be better, I wish them well but will not bother to watch them because I think they are too boring ... and epecially so without ‘ Jack the Lad ‘.

Tell Foxy we will, after many years, finally agree to sell Deeney to the Foxes for a cut down price of £15,000,000

From an impartial, Watford and Bournemouth have been punching above their weight for some time, so it was sort of inevitable.

You will quickly find that you both are not even big Championship sides and may well struggle next season.

At least you'll have the parachute payments to help, but the standard in the Championship is very high and promotion is by no means guaranteed, when you come up against the city teams.

At least you can record the games on Quest late on a Saturday night and the vast majority will be 3 0'clock on a Saturday.

If interested, there is a subscription service called IFollow for lower league clubs.

Welcome back to real football Moby.
It's pretty good down here.

PS just imagine how many managers they will go through next season unless they are clear at the top, and even then, not guaranteed.

We did the double over Watford in our first season in the PL, so would prefer the same again next season, rather than Watfords double over us in our 2nd and final season in the PL.

I will look forward to reading the fixtures

Haven't really followed the Championship league this season but had thought that Luton were in the drop zone :?

Apparently the bottom 5 at the restart all managed to avoid relegation, although Barnsley still await Wigans point reduction appeal.
