A brilliant programme, whichever side of the political fence you're on.
But I wonder how it will work in the snowflake 21st century? Can you mock Priti Patel or Diane Abbott without accusations of racism and sexism?
Will only white male people be safe targets?

Re: Current Affairs
Looking forward to that. Not sure what Britbox is but I'll look for it. We used to watch Have I Got News for You but recently it has been more sarcastic than funny so that's off the schedule.
On a different matter did anybody hear Tony Blair on Five Live being interviewed by Emma Barnett? I'm no fan of Blair's (and less a fan of hers) but he gave a very honest and measured response to Barnett, who was her usual obnoxious self but he was having none of it. She brought up Cummings' trip to the north (again!
) but he responded beautifully. After this morning I could even get to like him. He took off his political hat and for once I agreed with what he said. Should I be worried?

Yes. He's a liar he took us into a war that cost thousands of lives and continues to do so. Apart from that a good bloke.oldbluefox wrote: 05 Aug 2020, 18:06Looking forward to that. Re: Current Affairs
Interesting piece on the BBC website saying we may not be in such as bad position as some of the headline reports suggest on Covid.
A key bit is about numbers. The headlines suggest cases slowly rising again. But they say this is probably because of two things. First the number of tests overall is rising, which means we will identify more cases. And importantly a lot of testing is concentrated in areas where we are expecting to find positives because we've identified a cluster. So the percentage of positives is higher. And hence extrapolating to get a national picture is skewed.
We're a long way from out of the woods. But maybe it's not as black as painted at times.

Re: Current Affairs
Meanwhile one group of MPs (with a Labour Chairwoman - is that a coincidence?) criticise the government for not imposing quarantine on international arrivals at the beginning, when we had little information of the prevalence of the virus in other countries, while others criticise the government for imposing quarantine on arrival now from countries where we do have information on rising levels of the virus, because it might muck up their holiday.

Maybe someone can explain the logic of the entire nation being in lockdown while the airports were still open and over a million people, including from China, USA and Italy were ok to fly in with no checks.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 06 Aug 2020, 13:50Meanwhile one group of MPs (with a Labour Chairwoman - is that a coincidence?) criticise the government for not imposing quarantine on international arrivals at the beginning, when we had little information of the prevalence of the virus in other countries, while others criticise the government for imposing quarantine on arrival now from countries where we do have information on rising levels of the virus, because it might muck up their holiday.

The only person speaking against it at the time was Farage.
Everyone else just put their fingers in their ears and hoped for the best.
Hindsight is wonderful but this was obvious at the time.

Ignoring that how could we have reasonably prevented the 99.99% who arrived but who were not infected with the virus.

The point is moby, that they were not cleared at point of departure or arrival.Manoverboard wrote: 06 Aug 2020, 16:30It was obvious to all of us on here, albeit at different stagesbarney wrote: 06 Aug 2020, 15:57Maybe someone can explain the logic of the entire nation being in lockdown while the airports were still open and over a million people, including from China, USA and Italy were ok to fly in with no checks.

Follow the science my ****... but but but, realistically would there have been any point in closing all the airports given that the incoming passengers should surely have been cleared at the point of departure.

The airports were open as normal with no track or trace.
All water under the bridge now but absolute evidence of another government cock up.
Lockdown the population then allow any old tom, d**k or harry from anywhere ?
Really couldn’t make it up.
This government have done a few things good but an awful lot wrong.

Co-opt Farage into the cabinet…. he sees things a dam sight clearer than some, especially where some common sense is required.

Re: Current Affairs
Does anyone have a breakdown of the nationality of those flying in after lockdown? My instinct but without evidence is the vast majority were Brits coming home.
