Our granddaughters partner was supposed to be going to Southampton on Monday to work on a refurb of one of the ships. The 6 workers were all tested on Friday, at a cost to the company of £1000. Today only 3 results came back, the others will have to wait till Monday at the earliest, if they are clear then they will have to travel down later than the other 3. All workers then have to isolate for 24 hrs before starting work.The boss obviously isn’t happy after forking out that amount.

So on the news this morning they state that 16% of the population will refuse to have the Covid vaccine when it becomes available, with the usual conspiracy theories as the excuse. On the basis that that would mean that at the most only 84% of the population would be vaccinated (some probably would not be able to be vaccinated for medical reasons) and there will inevitable be some for which the vaccine will not work then we will be dangerously close to the level necessary for "herd immunity".

Sorry, but harsh and unpopular as it may be, but vaccination should not be an option and if you don't want it then you are free to spend the rest of your life in quarantine. I do not want some idiot with so called principles wandering the streets carrying a time bomb.

I would imagine, considering the damage this virus has done to the cruising industry in particular, it could be a pre-requisite for anybody wishing to cruise. No jab, no cruise. I would certainly feel safer knowing that everybody on board had been inoculated.

I would imagine, considering the damage this virus has done to the cruising industry in particular, it could be a pre-requisite for anybody wishing to cruise. No jab, no cruise. I would certainly feel safer knowing that everybody on board had been inoculated.

I however would also require a certificated test to prove that all of our fellow passengers had not had the virus at any stage even if they had never shown any of the recognised symptoms of the virus.

And how would you go about getting that?

Are you saying that if somebody has had the virus six months ago and they currently have no symptoms, as most of the population will show, that they cannot cruise?

Would they not have some immunity if they had previously had coronavirus? In that sense they would be a safer bet than those of us who have not had it.
