The report says it was sabotage, given that he shot himself in the foot perhaps it was just that ... or incompetence.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 08 Aug 2020, 06:51Now this is funny

Can he still not understand that he and his Marxist mates, McDonnell, Abbott etc, were the problem?

Bit of an irony really that he was the one holding up a leaked document with supposed Russian involvement and is now complaining of dirty tricks in his own party. What goes around comes around Jeremy. Seems the British electorate were right to turn him down.

Re: Current Affairs
Ed Miliband’s manifesto has now become Tory policy.
If only he could have mastered the technique of eating a bacon sandwich.
I’m wondering if Murdoch will choose Sir K as the next PM ?
I suppose it depends who is leading the Tories at the time.

Never a truer word spoken Sir Merv and should he ever return to front line politics (Labour or Lib Dem) then the Conservatives should be very worried.

Re: Current Affairs
Regards testing;
Our granddaughters partner was supposed to be going to Southampton on Monday to work on a refurb of one of the ships. The 6 workers were all tested on Friday, at a cost to the company of £1000. Today only 3 results came back, the others will have to wait till Monday at the earliest, if they are clear then they will have to travel down later than the other 3. All workers then have to isolate for 24 hrs before starting work. The boss obviously isn’t happy after forking out that amount.

Re: Current Affairs
So on the news this morning they state that 16% of the population will refuse to have the Covid vaccine when it becomes available, with the usual conspiracy theories as the excuse. On the basis that that would mean that at the most only 84% of the population would be vaccinated (some probably would not be able to be vaccinated for medical reasons) and there will inevitable be some for which the vaccine will not work then we will be dangerously close to the level necessary for "herd immunity".
Sorry, but harsh and unpopular as it may be, but vaccination should not be an option and if you don't want it then you are free to spend the rest of your life in quarantine. I do not want some idiot with so called principles wandering the streets carrying a time bomb.

Re: Current Affairs
Of course if the vaccine works then who cares, although maybe those refusing one should pay a premium on their NI contributions to cover the extra NHS costs of treating them if they get covid.david63 wrote: 09 Aug 2020, 08:44So on the news this morning they state that 16% of the population will refuse to have the Covid vaccine when it becomes available, with the usual conspiracy theories as the excuse. It might also become a pre-requisite for travel insurance.towny44 wrote: 09 Aug 2020, 09:26Of course if the vaccine works then who cares, although maybe those refusing one should pay a premium on their NI contributions to cover the extra NHS costs of treating them if they get covid.david63 wrote: 09 Aug 2020, 08:44So on the news this morning they state that 16% of the population will refuse to have the Covid vaccine when it becomes available, with the usual conspiracy theories as the excuse. I would imagine, considering the damage this virus has done to the cruising industry in particular, it could be a pre-requisite for anybody wishing to cruise. No jab, no cruise. I would certainly feel safer knowing that everybody on board had been inoculated.

I however would also require a certificated test to prove that all of our fellow passengers had not had the virus at any stage even if they had never shown any of the recognised symptoms of the virus.oldbluefox wrote: 09 Aug 2020, 15:44I would imagine, considering the damage this virus has done to the cruising industry in particular, it could be a pre-requisite for anybody wishing to cruise. Are you saying that if somebody has had the virus six months ago and they currently have no symptoms, as most of the population will show, that they cannot cruise?

Re: Current Affairs
Would they not have some immunity if they had previously had coronavirus? In that sense they would be a safer bet than those of us who have not had it.
