55 Years ...
... for the brother of the Manchester Arena bomber.
The longest sentence that has been given - and that is before he will even be considered for parole. So he will be almost 80 before he see the outside world again - and even that is too soon.
Just waiting now for the "denial of human rights" brigade to start up!

Re: 55 Years ...
Whats 55 divided by 22 ?
Not a lot, at such times I tend to favour the American system ... 99 years per person basically.

Perhaps his colleagues in prison will see that he is 'suitably accommodated'......................

I'm not a fan of the death penalty. But he should serve the full 55 inside in the harshest conditions legal in a UK prison. And if other inmates knock him about I won't be crying.

He should not have had an option whether to be in court or not. He should have been made to face the victims' families and taken his sentence instead of skulking away like the coward he is in his prison cell. Despicable character!!!

Agree. They should have dragged him there in chains if necessary.

Why waste money on housing, feeding and providing him with most creature comforts.
Just hang him.
Just hang him.

That is what he would want. That way he would see himself as a martyr and be able to sit at Allah's right hand.
Just put him in a cell with only the Koran for company - after 55 years he might get the message.

Not being in court to receive his sentence may have been a ploy to assist his appeal, if permitted ... perhaps ?oldbluefox wrote: 20 Aug 2020, 20:17He should not have had an option whether to be in court or not. since he wasn't there - can't they record it and play it to him on repeat - 6 times a day for the next 55 years?Mervyn and Trish wrote: 20 Aug 2020, 21:44Agree. They should have dragged him there in chains if necessary.

Nah, forget the Koran, give him the Bible...
When I first joined the job, we had what was called ‘The Block’ that’s where Cons were sent if the had misbehaved. It was so called because it had a concrete block at low level for the bed. They were allowed 2 books, one being the Bible.
The name changed to the ‘ Segregation unit’ now it’s called .CSU. Care and separation unit, give me strength.
