Just noticed a headline whereby someone from Hong Kong has been reinfected with coronavirus (different strain?). Have not read the full story yet, but if that is the case, then it moves the goalposts slightly.

Re: Current Affairs
It certainly does Ken.
If you can be reinfected, it may change a few current attitudes.
A scientist was saying this morning that the volume of people who have been infected with zero symptoms is much higher than has previously been thought.
Mrs b and I may well have had covid without knowing.

This would be really bad news as a new mutated virus would probably be resistant to vacancies already being tested?Kendhni wrote: 24 Aug 2020, 17:10Just noticed a headline whereby someone from Hong Kong has been reinfected with coronavirus (different strain?). I was listening to a scientist chappie this morning who was saying face masks would be benificial to both the wearer and virus recipient.....If Ludlow face mask wearing is anything to go we should be the next hot spot.
Good to hear death rates seem to be falling.....l wonder is the drug dexamethadone is helping reduce the numbers?

But as the WHO say we should not jump to any rash conclusions and one out of 23.5 million is not, at this stage, an issue.Kendhni wrote: 24 Aug 2020, 17:10Just noticed a headline whereby someone from Hong Kong has been reinfected with coronavirus (different strain?). I like the WHO but I’m not convinced Daltry or Townsend should be giving advice on such mattersdavid63 wrote: 24 Aug 2020, 18:41But as the WHO say we should not jump to any rash conclusions and one out of 23.5 million is not, at this stage, an issue.Kendhni wrote: 24 Aug 2020, 17:10Just noticed a headline whereby someone from Hong Kong has been reinfected with coronavirus (different strain?). Re: Current Affairs
Great news for our local area.
Appledore shipyard is set to reopen with new owners after Babcock closed it down last year.
Many skilled locals who had to commute to Plymouth can now get work locally again.
My brother has just moved to Appledore from the Caribbean island of Montserrat and says there is a great buzz around the town.
We are literally across the river and often pop over.
Fish and chips on the Quay on a sunny evening is lovely.
We are so lucky to live in a place like this.

I didn't argue with her.....squeak! squeak!

I was saying how lucky we have both been to have come from parents that had zip but we’ve done pretty well.
Mrs B says luck doesn’t come into it. We’ve worked and been smart.
My point was that we were lucky to come from loving families who encouraged us to flourish.
I mentioned the privilege word and she really went into one. She thinks that word smacks of classism.

So it was always the plan because if there's no audience the singing would be a bit naff. And back in full next year. So of course the media who were moaning and spreading fake news yesterday are today moaning and screaming u turn!

It's a fudge compromise. They are only doing an instrumental version. The choir will not be singing. If this lady felt she could not conduct these pieces they should have found somebody who could.

I do. But I would have felt the same if the moaning hacks had ITV in their sights in this way.
Imagine if the headline one day was "Towny beats his wife".
And the next day "In a u turn Toeny says he won't beat his wife again." Without ever admitting the original story was made up cobblers.
I know a woman who was once the agony aunt for a major newspaper. She made up most of the problems as well as the solutions. Most of the other hacks are no better.

Between a rock and a hard place. Whatever they did there would be critics.
But I did see another line from a BLM supporter this morning. They said they objected to the line "Britons never shall be slaves" because it implies it's okay if other people are.
Ironic I thought. Surely "Black lives matter" similarly implies other lives don't?

Re: Current Affairs
There's the other irony. Many blacks, Arabs and Asians were also slave owners.
Being a slave/slave owner is not a black/white thing.
And it was white Brits / British navy who led the movement/action to abolish slavery.
But let's not let facts get in the way of a left wing movement that aims to undermine our society.
