I don't go along with this 'confused message' malarkey. It's not rocket science to understand that in enclosed spaces you need to wear a mask. I would expect the airlines would have made it clear face masks had to be worn. I know this to be the case on Emirates.
The problem is not with the advice put out by the government but with the means by which it is enforced. I said before we should be much stricter and come down heavy on anyone who doesn't apply them. Stop pussyfooting around. These idiots ignore the rules because they know they can get away with it.

The Government make the rules Foxy... Rules have no meaning unless they are ratified by government policy.... if past performances are anything to go by, we should be getting a government announcement shortly.

You’ll need to bring your own, and make sure you have enough to allow you to change your mask every four hours". This is not the government but the airline ruling. How is that confusing? Fact is these people refused to wear them. Appalling!!!

I hear what you are saying but the lack of common sense and selfishness doesn't equate to compliance unless it is made enforceable. The airlines are between a cloud and a thunderstorm if passengers choose not to wear them a 32,000 feet.

They will wear them is they know a thousand pound fine awaits them on touchdown.

The Governments wishy washy face mask wearing policies are to blame for breaches of none compliance. Had the government made it mandatory to wear face masks the cabin steward would have had two options…. wear them or get arrested when you get off the plane.

One woman who was on the flight said that passengers didn’t seem educated about wearing face masks…she clearly wasn’t educated about going on a package holiday…they’re all covidiots if you ask me.

I didn't think the policy on planes was at all wishy washy, clear instructions are that facemasks must be worn, except when eating or drinking, unless you have a medical dispensation. Just the same as on all public transport.

Formal instructions to be issued to all passengrs once seated, when in flight ....

No mask equates to the passenger ( s ) being a risk to public safety so on arrival escort them to a containment area pending release on the way back. They pay the bills and Zante, or wherever, remains safer as a result.

Failing that 50 lashes, at both ends ( of the journey ).

A solution to the problem of enforcement on planes.

1. Tell the companies they will be prosecuted for corporate manslaughter if anyone dies from Covid after one of their flights and there is evidence the crew were not attempting to enforce the guidance.

2. Tell customers that if they don't conform to guidance on the flights when asked to go so by the crew their passports will be barred from all airlines forever.

A bit like the olden days with the ducking stool - if they survive the fall then they have Covid so go into quarantine for a month, if they do not survive then they did not have Covid in the first place.

Great news and long may it continue (and I really hope it is not arrogance counting the eggs before they hatch).

That should have been the case all along though, we are an island and should have been able to manage coronavirus much better - maybe the government is learning from its mistakes and finally getting its act together. However I still doubt there is much anyone can do against the human stupidity shown by many on a day to day basis - just back from shopping and the message still is not getting through the thick skulls of a minority.

Why does the BBC news concentrate so much time on interviewing one person who is struggling to get a covid test at a convenient testing centre, but totally ignores the many thousands who have no problems. Especially when this person first applied for a test on Saturday, but has only today requested a home testing kit.
