Mrs S and I were in Tesco this morning and noticed a few people not wearing a mask and a couple in front of us at the checkout wearing those full face plastic screen masks. So we were wondering why those who won't or cannot wear a regular cloth mask wear one of these full face screen masks instead. It doesn't come into contact with your face anywhere, there is a good gap at the bottom for air. There really is no excuse.

I was sitting at a table on the Quay at Bideford having a coffee with my brother when approached by a lady telling me that Jesus could save my soul.
I told her that unless she backed off a bit, she could cost me my life.
She appeared somewhat confused so I said loudly, social distance.
She looked at me like I was mad.😂
As others have said, some still don’t get it.

My hairdresser was told that visors alone are not adequate in providing protection to others , and they now have to wear both.

Absolutely right. They are only any use as additional protection for the eyes in conjunction with a mask. Alone they're as much use as wearing gloves as contraception.

As of Tuesday the whole of Kirklees goes back under tighter restrictions. It is becoming a bit of a yo-yo experience, or the hokey kokey, in out, in out, dont you dare go out.

Well I would rather see them wearing a visor than nothing at all if their condition excludes them from wearing a mask.

A bit extreme, considering the client has to wear mask as well.
If the face full face masks offers very little protection then how come they are widely used in the medical profession both singularly and with an additional face covering.

As Onelife says, better something than nothing.

An interesting comment on the radio this morning by some scientific person when the question of tougher rules was being talked about. His point was that people are now at the stage where they are reluctant to accept any more restrictions to their lives and do we have to start accepting 20k deaths a year from Covid-19 in the same way that we accept 20k deaths a year from flu - and many other conditions.

Mrs S reported back that Morrisons today have reverted back to a one way system to enter and exit the store and a single dedicated Isle for the check-outs. A waste of time if you ask me if they are still happy for the few to still shop without any sort of face covering.

It’s an interesting point David.
Nearly all flu deaths are the elderly and vulnerable.
Nearly all Covid deaths are the elderly and vulnerable.
Maybe that’s it until a jab is available.
I’ve never had a flu jab and have only had flu twice in my life.
The last time in my thirties.
Maybe I should now consider a flu jab.
I dunno?

I wouldn’t think that they are ‘happy’ about some not wearing face coverings Stephen but there is not a lot they can do about it without police presence.
Have you seen some of the incidents on transport?
Shocking when a citizen is violently attacked for asking an individual to wear a mask. Numerous occasions.
Would you personally take it on ?
It’s not minimum wage shop staff’s responsibility.

BTW Mrs B politely refused entry to a young couple yesterday without a face covering but they took it fine.
Having said that, it’s her business, her rules.

I would love too, but it's not worth all the abuse from people who are too stupid to see that they're in the wrong.

The government were quite happy to pay people to stay at home, perhaps they should pay for security staff at major stores to enforce their rules, or empower the security staff at stores such as our Morrisons to refuse entry to anyone who isn't wearing a mask, as your wife did.

At the end of the day it's down to us to look after ourselves, but It just annoys me every time i see someone not following the rules and potentially putting others at risk.

It should be quite simple, no mask, no entry, no exclusions.

And the pratt that owns the cafe that has banned the wearing of masks should have his licence revoked by the council.

Don't disagree in principle but there still remains the problem of the few who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons and there is no system in place to identify them.

From a social point-of-view there is nothing wrong with them meeting outside. From a commodity point of view, there are enough unemployed people or those on furlough that should be tasked with ensuring the person has everything they need - ideally shops could provide 'runners' for them to ensure they have the necessities of life (we have a couple of shops here that do just that).

I do not have to wear a mask, but I choose to do so out of respect for everyone else. I can only cope with a few minutes (10-20 on a good day) before I have to head back outside ... that is enough to get what I need

There is a system in place David. They can apply for a lanyard that identifies people without an obvious disability.
The chap who was recently removed from an underground train recently by the police was first asked what his disability was and he said severe asthma. So the cop asked him to produce his inhaler and he didn’t have one.
He then kicked off and was arrested.
