Hi Mob…. That’s my take on things, however in my latter years I have learnt to be a little more compromising of other peoples views…which as you can imagine is quite difficult for me being right all most of the timeManoverboard wrote: 05 Nov 2020, 10:50Our circles of close friends over umpteen years have been able to discuss anything and everything without the need to agree with anybody just to feel included or even to be polite. It makes for interesting and honest exchanges of views and because we and they have been able to share the experience collectively we all automatically feel included. Sadly some fell by the wayside but due to health or marriage break ups rather than political differences. We all had different out of work interests but there was frequently a commonality of background else occupations .... i.e. we were all trained assassinstowny44 wrote: 05 Nov 2020, 09:43Unless you avoid discussing or even thinking about politics, then my view would be that a friend with polar opposite political views to your main circle of friends might find it difficult to feel included.Manoverboard wrote: 05 Nov 2020, 09:21
Do you pick friends on the basis that they agree with you ... I certainly don't![]()
I could of course be totally wrong but over the years our main group of friends have held similar political views to us, in fact one of the few firmly socialist friends we have has changed her views quite markedly over the years, and even voted for Boris last year.![]()

I think Trump is a despicable creature but like you I would rather have him than Biden…. love him or despise him Trump seems to have made good decisions on the economy and let’s not forget that it was him who coined the phrase “fake news” which has to a more or lesser extent proved to be true, especially on the international stage, China etc.
I think America needed Trump’s “cut out the chaff” no nonsense approach. time will tell as to whether he can dodge the bullets coming his way.…well if you put it out there you’ve gota own it when you make the wrong call…which reminds me, I must change my brand of tea leaves.
Incidentally this is the reason you live in a 4 bedroomed detached property and I live in a leaky old tin can.![]()

Nearer 200,000 mink according to Mr Google in the UK, all in the wild since fur farming is banned here.Onelife wrote: 05 Nov 2020, 14:51I think someone may have already posted something about this...

Used to be farmed for their fur and were then released into the wild by animal rights activists. Our natural water voles became an easy meal for them. Not the brightest idea IMO.

So the furlough scheme has been extended to March - looks as if preparations are starting for lockdown three in the New Year.
Doesn't bode well for my planned break in March!

As a kid I remember seeing many a vole in our local brook but this is what happens when well-intended yet irresponsible yobs release the equivalent of alligators into an otherwise balanced environment.oldbluefox wrote: 05 Nov 2020, 15:25Used to be farmed for their fur and were then released into the wild by animal rights activists. Nice to se the students following the rules at their rally over being fenced off....not.
Social distancing was out the window along with many not wearing masks. I would say they deserve everything they get health wise, but it will no doubt be others that suffer.
They are an absolute disgrace.

When we used to have our narrow boat, we were sitting at the mooring enjoying a glass of something in the sunshine, when a mink, as bold as you like wandered along and on to the back deck.oldbluefox wrote: 05 Nov 2020, 15:25Used to be farmed for their fur and were then released into the wild by animal rights activists. It then went down the steps and in to the cabin.
I'm not having that, I thought so went down to shoo it away.
Well, the little bugger was having none of it and actually turned on me.
Mrs B reckons that she's never seen anything move so quick as me in that instant, literally shooting out of the staircase.
Eventually, after a few minutes , it casually came out of the open front door, walked along the river bank and disappeared.
When I summoned up the courage to go down and check, the bloomin thing had crapped on one of the seats before it left.
Lesson of the day .... don't **** with the mink.

Oh dear, those poor young things at Manchester University, feeling like they’re in Prison !
Fenced in by a 7 ft security fence, not a 25 ft wall. What a traumatic 4/5 months they’ve had, not getting the grades they demanded and now having to cry themselves to sleep clutching their teddies feeling like they’re locked up. Bloody hell, if that’s our future we’re well and truly fecked.

It's where the sh*ts should be, preferably off shore.

Interesting interview with the Welsh PM yesterday morning. He was saying people should not be asking what they could do but ask what you should do. So many people looking for a loophole to exploit, an excuse that until we change attitude we will never suppress this virus.

It's not the young people who are spreading it. It must have been pensioners in disguise dancing in the streets after closing time. Looks like we have bred a load of untouchables. Time some of them grew up and took responsibility.

Re: Current Affairs
In light of the mutated mink coronavirus outbreak in Denmark should we not be closing our boarders to this country? If reports are correct 12 people have contracted this mutated strain then shouldn't we be taking action now in not allowing any Danish quarantine abusers into this country?.
