Ofsted reports that some children have regressed in lockdown because they’re not going to school. stating, their use of a knife and fork and reverting back to nappies.! Surely to the Gods this is basic parenting.

I suspect the daily wail might be taking a rather selective view of the report.screwy wrote: 10 Nov 2020, 09:19Ofsted reports that some children have regressed in lockdown because they’re not going to school. stating, their use of a knife and fork and reverting back to nappies.! It's widely reported John. Not just the Wail. It's shocking but doesn't surprise me. Some parents should be locked up for neglect. My niece is a primary school teacher and is appalled by the number of 5 year olds who've not even started toilet training when they begin school.towny44 wrote: 10 Nov 2020, 09:52I suspect the daily wail might be taking a rather selective view of the report.screwy wrote: 10 Nov 2020, 09:19Ofsted reports that some children have regressed in lockdown because they’re not going to school. stating, their use of a knife and fork and reverting back to nappies.! Re: Current Affairs
Too many children arrive in school who are not toilet trained, are not accustomed to sitting at table for lunch, have no idea of using a knife and fork, have no social skills, find difficulty in sharing and cannot concentrate unless there is a television screen in front of them.
We once placed a class of children in front of a TV screen tuned to the Parliament channel. Total silence. It's frightening and very sad.
Merv is right; it is neglect and these children are already behind the game before they even get started because of parents who neglect their children in their first 5 formative years.

“Give me a child until he/she is 7 and I will show you the man/woman”
Our daughter was fully house trained by the age of 18 months…I remember well saving her potty gifts until mom got home then the daily ritual of flushing them down the loo…were there’s the will, the rest is easy with a little bit of patience.

Too much liberal legislation now overrides many natural selections that would have maintained a higher standard gene pool.....just saying.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 10 Nov 2020, 18:05It's widely reported John. You've just got to love the Americans haven't you?

Black-lives-matter to register as political party.?

Perhaps the Electoral commission should remind them that this would be "racist"....and potentially very devisive..

I don't know what all the fuss was about the FA Chairman and alleged racist remarks. From what I heard they weren't racist. Another case of snow flaking perhaps.

" He used the term "coloured footballers" as he was talking about the racist abuse of players by trolls on social media.
Clarke received further criticism for comments he made referring to gay players making a "life choice", about the different career choices of people from black and Asian communities, and about a coach telling him young female players did not like having the ball hit hard at them. "
In his role he has to dodge that sort of stuff, it is I believe an age issue so if true a young black les person should be appointed in his place albeit it won't make a scrap of difference to anything or anybody.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Re: Current Affairs
I understand the concern about some of the later stuff. However the issue of saying "coloured footballers" instead of "footballers of colour" really annoys me. That isn't racism. It semantics. In the English language they both mean exactly the same thing.Manoverboard wrote: 11 Nov 2020, 13:15He reportedly said ....Stephen wrote: 11 Nov 2020, 12:25I don't know what all the fuss was about the FA Chairman and alleged racist remarks. It's also a question of fashion. While I would never use the "N" word the approved term has rotated between "black", "coloured" and "of colour" over the years.
I hereby notify the world I do not wish to be referred to as "white" because I am not. I too am "of colour". It's just that in my case it's a sort of pinky, off white colour.

Re: Current Affairs
The media do seem quite interested in this, but she was head of communications in 2018, so clearly has opinions that she wants to share with Boris.
I imagine that Cherie Blair and Hilary Clinton shared their political views with their husbands all the time.

As for Sir K's predictable reaction to all this I have two words. Alistair Campbell.
