It may help . . .

Unread post by gfwgfw »

Morning Playmates

Hesitate to post this mainly boring narrative

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I was strongly advised to have a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) by my Doc

Now, like many others no doubt I have problems with claustrophobia

The thought of being fed into a tube got me into a real lather

BUT , I "bit the bullet" and signed on the dotted line

Now over

May help other folk with the MIR fear to know that I have come out the "other side"

It takes approx 25 minutes, very noisy which is reduced with a headset playing your choice of music and contact with operators reassurance about what is happening

Armed with an alarm to abort the procedure plus an extremely curvaceous young lady to oversee the scan my fear has been allayed

Just in case we have a shipmate that had my fears . . . go for it

Lubooo all

Morning Graham, good that you overcame your fears  I've never had one but OH has had a couple and said they weren't as bad as he was expecting but like you said very noisy, hope whatever the problems may be that you get a positive outcome :D you must have been gutted that the "curvaceous lady" wasn't allowed to hold your hand during the procedure

It is indeed, in fact if we hadn't moved to God's Country it is very doubtful that I would have survived

So another point is ...

DO NOT delay having a check up in the hope that those maybe symptoms will go away, cos they won't and will more likely get a whole lot worse and potentially more painful ... at best

Hi Graham,

Gosh you are brave - and sweet and kind for putting this post on the forum.

However, unless suitably equipped with a jolly big can opener I think I'll avoid one of those confuzzled machines! MRI (in my book) should stand for Many Romantic Interludes!

Never had one myself, but Julie has had several and she is very claustrophobic ... but she manages .. glad to hear you made it through Graham.

Interestingly the MRI scanner was single handedly responsible for curing many of the 'unable to work because of a bad back' claims from the 90's ... it could tell!

Glad to hear you made it alright gfw and hope your results are positive.

I had an ECG yesterday, something I had never had before and that was a doddle. Nothing to worry about at all. Will just have to wait and see what the doc has to say. He didn't send for an ambulance so it can't be that bad. It's probably just a case of PCS - Pre Cruise Stress.
I was taught to be cautious

Hey HO

MIR Results are in . . . .

Doc tells me that if I was a horse I would be put down

but with the use of a surgeon's scalpel I could be spared

Bugger _ I was due to captain the younger 80's FA cup final next month

Luboo all - of course I do

Surgeons can do wondrous things with a scalpel these days so meet him with confidence ... but ask him nicely not to chop off yon todger :silent:

It's not a nice experience gfw, the MRI thing, I almost pressed that buzzer, but needs must, and I wish you a good outcome.

Ah, you had one of those as well :o

Did you have a decision to make ... i.e ... to rest your head between the legs of a dusky maiden or a gentleman of a different orientation , I trust you chose wisely

Hi gfw

I’ve had three MRI scans, one on my brain which found nothing :o and two on my spine.

As you say Graham you just have to tell yourself that you’ll be coming out the same way you went in and that the results may prolong... or give you the chance of a better quality of life.

I wish you well for whatever the dusky maiden administers next.

Regards

Keith

Hi Mob

Alas, I fear gfw didn’t choose wisely as I’ve heard he started choking half way through the procedure
