TV programmes
Some have made mention on other posts of programmes that they are watching during the lockdown.
We too are enjoying the re runs of Inspecror Morse, and Kavanagh, what a fine actor John Thaw was and good script writing too.
I have taken to watching professional masterchef, I watched a while, back but became fed up with what I thought was a poor standard of chefs.
However during the pandemic some chefs with better skills have had the time and opportunity to apply to the programme and its certainly reflected in the programme.
What gave me a laugh ,ast night was one chef who was working as a pastry chef, he had previously been a chef on a cruise ship. He couldnt master crepes suzette last night and he let it slip that he had been cooking this dish on the ship. !!!!!
Sadly he didnt do much better in his next task and was quite rightly eliminated from the competition.

Love Morse, both the tv series & the books( perhaps even more.) Liked Endeavour ( but it did fall into the trap of trying to do the ‘60s psychedelic thing...& doing it badly.) For many years my first stop in the ship’s library was at section M for Mortimer, where I would pick up a Rumpole. Despite having the full set on DVD we still enjoy Rumpole on Talking Pictures.

Re: TV programmes
We have watched The Sopranos, Midsomer Murders and Vera during lockdown, most of which we missed first time round. We also rewatched line of duty which I mostly remembered, but we are now rewatching Spooks, and what's worrying me is that I hardly remember any of them, and yet I know we watched them.

We missed Line of Duty first time round but what a great series that was. We revisited Allo Allo and couldn't get over how times have changed. A lot of the humour you wouldn't be allowed to get away with nowadays before somebody would have been complaining.
My wife watches Vera but not I. We are now recording the spaghetti western Clint Eastwood films for watching later on.

Re: TV programmes
We had ' Downloaded ' the first 5 series of Morse but are now recording them. I mention this because the downloaded versions are due to be deleted any time soon, we are keeping about a week ahead of the deletions. Also note that ' keeping ' them does not prevent them from being deleted.
We did the same with Frost, watched all of them bar the very last one which was deleted ... see above

He was pretty hopeless wasn't he. That wasn't a tough judging decision even without tasting his food.Whynd1 wrote: 25 Nov 2020, 11:26What gave me a laugh ,ast night was one chef who was working as a pastry chef, he had previously been a chef on a cruise ship. Re: TV programmes
Thoroughly enjoyed the master chef final last night.
3 excellent chefs any one of which was worthy of the trophy.
Wont say who won just in case someone is watching on catch up.

Just read through the Christmas ' Radio Times ' ... a distinct lack of decent films to watch
We have however recorded the 11 episodes of Portrait Artist of the Year and the 18 episodes of Masterchef ready to watch during Christmas week.
ps ... thanks Lindsey

Re: TV programmes
We have been watching Quests mighty cruise ships, this week was HAL's Niuw Statendaam, for Cunard lovers its probably very similar to the smaller Queens, and very possibly identical to their new ship, if that's still going ahead.
It did make me wonder whether we will ever get back to the same laid back freedom of pre covid cruising, and if not how will it differ in future.

Just installed BritBox. Some brilliant nostalgia progs on there. Loads of box sets as well. There's also a section of Christmas specials everything from Only Fools and Horses to the Vicar of Dibley.
I'm just about to start watching Downton Abbey from the beginning. Perfect especially as I'm self isolating.

Did anyone else see the new Vicar of Dibley short that was a eulogy for Alice Tinker/Emma Chambers who played her? If you knew Emma's story with her tragic death three years ago it was very moving.

Re: TV programmes
On my journey to the doctors yesterday my wife asked me to buy the Radiotimes...l nearly had a heart attack when the shop assistant said.... £5.sir!
Just as an aside while in Ludlow yesterday l came across two buskers singing Christmas carols. ....Their voices were fantastic and had l got a chair l could have easily spent more time listening to them. While depositing a few bob into their bucket l did get the chance to confirm my thoughts that they were professional singers...They were indeed. They must have made a tidy sum as there was a constant stream of happy Christmas shoppers.....l love to hear buskers and these two were exceptional.

Been watching Inspector Montalbano. Easy watch and good story lines if you like subtitles or speak Italian.

Oh Ray - Salvo Montalbano is my absolute favourite - I have watched all the series including the Young Montabano which I loved too. I love the characters and the story lines are great - downside is the sub-titles but I can put up with that. My friend who is Welsh Italian as she says has read the books which they are based on but they are not in English so no use to me.Ray B wrote: 23 Dec 2020, 12:14Been watching Inspector Montalbano. We enjoyed the All Creatures Great And Small Christmas special on C5 last night. A rare example of a remake of a classic that's as good as the original.
