Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
Mother in-law just phoned to say she has got an invite for this Sunday @ 8.40am for her first vaccine jab. I said no chance, it'll clash with Mrs S getting my breakfast ............ (kidding) before the hate mail starts

That isn't how it works. She will be protected but she can still bring it home to you.Stephen wrote: 12 Jan 2021, 12:05Mrs S gets her second dose on Sunday, so at least she won't be bringing it home to me, once it kicks in............hopefully.

That, as I understand it at the moment, is a bit of a grey area as nobody seems sure one way or the other. But until there is confirmation I would err on the side of caution.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
Just to clarify. A patient that has been vaccinated may continue to carry the virus on their skin, clothes and anything else they touch. The virus could also be present and very much alive and transmissible in saliva. The vaccine means that they are producing the required t-cells to (hopefully) kill an an attack within their own body but it does not protect others.

But only if she picks up the infection, and even then the experts are undecided as to whether the vaccine will provide sufficient protection to ensure you dont shed any infection.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
That's my understanding; it only protects the person who is vaccinated. It would still be possible for them to pass the virus on by touch, on their clothes and, I presume, their breath /saliva. Therefore even after vaccination it is important that people don't go inviting all and sundry into their homes for an over 80s knees up. We still have to be vigilant.Kendhni wrote: 12 Jan 2021, 13:55Just to clarify. A patient that has been vaccinated may continue to carry the virus on their skin, clothes and anything else they touch. How many more times are the media going to ask the same question - when are we coming out of lockdown? I presume that will only happen when admissions to hospital have fallen, new cases have dropped and there are significantly fewer dying of the disease. And that depends on the rate of vaccination and how well people adhere to the restrictions. Could somebody let the Beeb, Sky & Co know so they stop asking an impossible question. Obviously the MPs who suggested March 8th all have a crystal ball or they are just clueless.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
Until there is sufficient vaccination evidence to analyse the experts do not have a definitive answer. But from what I have read it is highly unlikely that transmission from a vaccinated source will constitute a major problem.oldbluefox wrote: 13 Jan 2021, 15:47That's my understanding; it only protects the person who is vaccinated. So it is best to wait for a science based answer rather just speculate on a worst case scenario.

Government advice is to continue taking the usual precautions after vaccination.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
We are still waiting for the jab and they are vaccinating people much younger than us just across the border in Bournemouth. Sue wont let us go out in case we miss a phone call. We have six or seven friends who have been in intensive care with it and two have died. When they linked it with being overweight I lost a stone in the autumn, I'm now fighting to keep it down.

And a bit of bad/sad news. It only seems like a couple of weeks that I mentioned the sobering statistic that 1:900 had died from COVID within the UK. That figure is now 1:800.

The numbers vaccinated in areas of the country are out, and it looks like London and East of England are well behind the rest.
We will wait in line untill called.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
Spoke to my GP today about another matter and he mentioned that as of yesterday, they, (GP Practices) were told they are no longer allowed to give second dose vaccines but to concentrate on getting first doses out. He mentioned I might get mine as soon as two or three weeks time.

Likewise we spoke to our surgery about something else today and they reckon we'll get the invitation next week.Stephen wrote: 14 Jan 2021, 15:23Spoke to my GP today about another matter and he mentioned that as of yesterday, they, (GP Practices) were told they are no longer allowed to give second dose vaccines but to concentrate on getting first doses out. Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
It seems that my surgery vaccinated folk from other locations whereas the patients from that surgery have to go 8 miles away. Doesn’t seem logical.... plus the fact that you can’t get any appointment for anything else
