Struggle to see the logic in that.jacksparrow wrote: 15 Jan 2021, 19:37It seems that my surgery vaccinated folk from other locations whereas the patients from that surgery have to go 8 miles away. Doesn’t seem logical.... plus the fact that you can’t get any appointment for anything else![]()

My daughter, a Consultant Psychologist in London, has had both Covid, and the vaccine - second dose due next week.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
Not all surgeries are actually giving the vaccine. They are arranging who has one and when but the actual vaccination may be being done in a central location. For example in our town there is a "Central Covid Vaccination Centre" where all the doctor's surgeries are sending their patients.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
Not sure whether our surgery has any vaccine yet, nor if it will be doing vaccinations, its not very big so may not be suitable for people to wait 15 minutes to see if they have any adverse reaction. But since not all over 8os have had their jabs yet, I am happy to wait until we get the invite.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
Our usual surgery doesn't lend itself to mass vaccination so they are using one in a different part of town.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
Ours definitely are, our GP told my husband, but as yet no vaccines have been forthcoming. And another GP friend, from a neighbouring town, said the same. The roll out is extremely slow here.david63 wrote: 15 Jan 2021, 21:42Not all surgeries are actually giving the vaccine. Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
I would think very few surgery’s will have the capacity to carry out vaccinations and operate their regular services. They are using all of the downstairs council offices where we live which makes sense considering everyone that normally works there is now working from home. It’s also very convenient as the council offices are bang in the middle between the two surgeries so people have no further to travel.

There do seem to be some problems with the vaccine rollout in Wales compared to the rest of the UK

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
I do agree that the initial roll out in Wales was slow but it is picking up pace now. My neighbour (along with many others in the practice) received his first dose of the vaccine this week at our local surgery and a date for the second in 10 weeks time (he is in the over 80's group). The pace of vaccination has certainly picked up in my health board area and they have been using the council offices to carry out the programme on a larger scale and local care homes residents have certainly been given the vaccine. My sleeve is rolled up ready for mine

I am quoting Boris's figures from yesterday, which from memory were something like an average 50% across the UK.

Nobody I know locally has had the vaccine. Our next door neighbours are 83 and 89 they haven’t been offered a vaccine as yet.

Our daughter works in a care home. Everybody, both staff and patients, had their vaccinations (Oxford) yesterday.

Not sure if this has any basis but it appears to me that rural communities are being pushed to the back of the queue when it comes to the distribution of vaccine rollouts. Whilst our infection rate figures are less than many areas of the country, I can see no reason why we should be marginalised at the expense of more infected areas.

Seriously I don't think that is the case but more a question of logistics. It will be easier, and quicker, to get the larger areas up and running, especially as they have more to vaccinate, that it will to get rural areas going if there is not the same volume of population. Also a lot will depend on how much pre planning has been done - I know that in our area they were planning for the vaccine rollout last September and did a "dummy run" with the flu jabs.
Anyway it is not the Government, nor the NHS, that is organising it - it is the army.

Does not appear to be the case in our area, with most of the Nursing homes being completed as well.david63 wrote: 16 Jan 2021, 11:51That's your own fault for living out in the middle of nowhereOnelife wrote: 16 Jan 2021, 11:23Not sure if this has any basis but it appears to me that rural communities are being pushed to the back of the queue when it comes to the distribution of vaccine rollouts. Vaccinations are going ahead in this neck of the woods and quite a few have now had it. It's just a matter of waiting your turn and if you'r not that old you'll just have to wait a nit longer than the rest of us,
I saw where one MP said that prisoners should have priority. Are these people for real?

I may wrong but I think what they're doing Keith is draining the left over dregs from all the little vaccine bottles for rural communities such as yours to help speed things up.Onelife wrote: 16 Jan 2021, 11:23Not sure if this has any basis but it appears to me that rural communities are being pushed to the back of the queue when it comes to the distribution of vaccine rollouts.
