Sad News RIP Kelvin

Unread post by mavismumakrill »

Sorry if this is old news to you but nobody seems to have mentioned it on here. Kelvin Metcalfe (the ship's cat, as his nickname was), died aged 67 very suddenly last Tuesday.

He was such a lovely man and was a regular poster on P&O until most of the 'Adonians' moved to another cruise site because of a lot of aggro about us. He did post on the Main Site as well. Kelvin was a funny, friendly, sincere and reliable friend. I am sure many of you will remember him.

Sorry this was a week ago but I haven't had my laptop on so not got my e-mails with the news as my son, his partner and baby Blueberry came to Bridlington for a few days last week.

RIP Kelvin a genuine friend who passed away far too young.

Mavis x

I was deeply saddened to hear the news, Kelvin was a lovely man and a great friend and comfort to me in times od saddness. We lost touch a couple of years ago, so haven't been in contact recently, but I know he will be missed by a great many.

Thanks for posting this, Mavis.

God bless you, Kelvin. And condolences to Yvonne and the family.

I do remember the ships cat, I'm really sorry to hear this news.

I've been around the cruise forums on and off for around 10 years now, so sadly these messages will become more frequent as the old hands pass away.

Sad news indeed.

Thanks for letting us know, Mavis

It has been a great shock for many of us, he was a very dear man.
A few of us spent many a happy hour chatting away in a chatroom we set up after some of us left another site, and Kelvin was usually at the centre of the fun !. His funeral took place this morning, but last night, his old chatroom friends met up online to share happy memories about him and we raised a glass in his honour.
