I think travel outside of one's own County should be restricted until after the second jabs have been done
That would mean that nobody would be able to move around the country until November and that is not going to happen
towny44 wrote: 23 Feb 2021, 10:30

Why?
Will P&O and chums be cruising this side of 2022 ?

I think not because it is not safe for their passengers and crew. This being the case it follows that it will be no safer letting everybody travel all over this Country. Dorset, for example, has been safe throughout and should remain so whereas other places, like Kent, are a greater risk.

Such risks should be managed ... in my opinion.

They are talking the talk, other cruise lines have already declared 2022 as their hoped for restart date. At the end of the day will bookings be high or low and who will book before the pandemic is totally under control ?

Will you opt to cruise in 2021 ?

Not me for one. Not until normal service has resumed (no masks required on-board). And if that mean continually moving our cruise then so be it.

Taking things as a whole I think the measures that Boris announced yesterday are about right.

There are a couple of announcements that I would have liked to have seen, one of which would be that if you refuse a vaccine you will be required to pay a premium/insurance on any future covid related NHS medical treatments.

Secondly, I would like to hear life insurance companies announce an increase in life insurance premiums for those who (without a plausible excuse) put their beliefs above that of their and of other people’s health in not having the vaccine.

And while I’m on a roll... any medical person which comes into close contact with patients, but refuse to have the vaccine, should be deployed working in areas where they don’t come into contact with patients. If my understanding is correct, they are required to have the Hepatis B vaccine to work alongside patients so I can't see any plausible reason why they should refuse the covid vaccine.

Have a good day. :)

We booked a October cruise 11 months ago thinking it will have blown over.
Just waiting to see how it pans out.

The holiday I gave booked to Eastbourne in August sounds safe. Not sure about the one to Blackpool at the end of May but should be okay.

On travel, there has been released some spectacular footage of the Mars landing.
Yes! Ray, they were amazing.

What I find astonishing is that they have used the most advanced technology to get ‘Perseverance’ there ( 38 million miles) only then to revert to ‘ropes’ to lower ‘Perseverance’ to the Mars surface. :)

Boris's announcement that hopefully all restrictions can be lifted by mid June, has been taken by many to mean all social distancing and mask reqts could cease.
Although Vallance and Whitty did suggest that some restrictions might be needed during the winter months.

Even so the cruise lines will still be able to impose their own requirements and will, in all probability, be somewhat more cautious about removing them in view of the way any virus spreads through a ship.

I would guess that some, if not all, of their new protocols will remain in place until next March/April.

Knowing the antagonism to all covid protocols currently being expressed on social media, I would expect that cruise lines will be only too keen to ditch them as quickly as possible. But I think they might want passengers to have a vaccine passport and all crew also to have been vaccinated, that way the risk of an outbreak will be limited.

I heard that Cheltenham was single handedly responsible for the outbreak last year. Should be cancelled this year as a penance. :sarcasm:

Hope this cheers you up Mob ;)

A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The driver says: 'Ugh, that's the ugliest baby I've ever seen!" The woman walks to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to the man next to her: "The driver just insulted me!" The man says: "You go up there and tell him off. Go on, I'll hold your monkey for you."

I see Carnival shares are creeping up.
Just noticed this - https://finance.yahoo.com/news/carnival ... 00734.html
Which probably has some bearing on the price rise. If they manage to sell all these shares $1billion should keep them going for the next few months

Even if I wanted to start cruising again, which I don't at the moment anyway, the thought of booking a cruise on my own, having to wear a mask around the ship and possibly only being able to dine with someone on the same booking doesn't appeal at all. If that's correct that people will only be able to sit with someone they are cruising with what happens to those people who are sailing on their own? Would that mean a solitary meal each evening?

I would certainly like some sort of a break, possibly with my daughters but in this country in a really lovely hotel, don't mind where, as long as someone else is cooking my meals!
