Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
My husband had the AZ and had to wait 15 minutes because he’d driven there alone. He took me for my AZ so I wasn’t required to wait.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
Exactly what happened to me - violent shivering all yesterday evening and overnight, and headache all day today, but surprisingly no tenderness in my arm whatsoever. Hopefully tomorrow will be back to normal.oldbluefox wrote: 16 Feb 2021, 09:48My BIL had a similar reaction - shivering with cold but he was hot, headache and feeling rough. It lasted about 24 hours and after a 'better' night's sleep he was fine.It seems to affect different people in different ways, some having no reaction at all apart from a stiff arm for a couple of days.Meg 50 wrote: 16 Feb 2021, 08:59
I couldn't sleep cos couldn't get warm - now temp raised a bit and a bit of a headache. Nothing desperate - but could do without it! Hopefully will only be short term

I had the Oxford jab last Sunday, similar side effects to others, shivering and achy. Strangely my arm was sore only after the 2nd day, only just better now.
No sticker either, not even a blob of cotton wool for the injection site.

Not necessarily. If you know your NHS number and your date of birth and you are over 65, you can book without a letter. I heard the NHS site now works for the over 60s too. I don’t know if this is true but if someone knows their NHS number, they can try.Manoverboard wrote: 26 Feb 2021, 15:50The number is not the problem ... one needs a formal invitation to proceedChalgrave4 wrote: 26 Feb 2021, 14:29I was under the impression the 10 digit number was your NHS number which you can get from any prescription or most letters from doctors etc.Whynd1 wrote: 26 Feb 2021, 11:44I have tried logging on to book but you have to have received an invitation letter which has a 10 digit code.
I have not yet had the letter.
Shouldn't be too long now.
Would have been handy to have had it done as my 93 year old dad has to go to hospital on the 8th and I cant take him during to not having had the jab.
Having contacted the hospital he has to go, they have already postponed his appointment once. It's more serious if he doesnt go.

That was definately what my wife used when booking her appointment![]()

This does appear to be the case here in Wales.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
We both had an invitation but it was a 40 mile round trip so I phoned the surgery to see if they could fix it so that we could go at the same time-ish. Sorry no can do because you haven't had an invitation ... actually I have, they checked then booked our jabs at exactly the same time.Gill W wrote: 26 Feb 2021, 23:04Not necessarily. Hence my reason for believing that a jab cannot mormally be booked without an invite, this was in January however. Things may have changed in recent times but our surgery's website still states ' Don't call us unless you have an invite '.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
The ‘letter’ is the invite to the online NHS booking system, but not an invitation to the doctors. The doctors call when they are ready for you.
My husband is 69, so in group 5. He heard nothing from the GP, but got his letter on the 12th February. He booked online and got an appointment for the 13th at the nearest vaccination centre, about 12 miles away..
Then, on the 16th, I got a text from the GP, asking me in for my vaccination on 19th. I was really surprised, as I’m in group 7 and ‘only’ 60. So I had my jab done at the GP hub, a 5 minute walk away, no letter ever received.
The doctors website says that they’ve done all the over 70s, and were told by NHS England to miss out the 65-69’s (group 5) and go straight to groups 6 and 7. The group 5’s are told to go the the vaccine hub, or wait 6 weeks until the doctors can get around to moping them up.
It seems odd that one group is being left out, but we aren’t too bothered, as we ended up having our jabs in the same week, even though there’s a 9 year gap in age.
Even though my husband had to travel a distance to his jab venue, he had the advantage of being able to book his 2nd jab date. Whereas I had a local venue, but have to wait for the doctor to contact me again for my second jab. So each system has its pros and cons

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
We both had our first AZ jabs on 10th February. Our surgery is not very efficient so despite having received several advance text messages from them our letters had both arrived at the same time and I went straight online to the NHS website.
Be warned that this is a very crude and simplistic system which takes you through the process one step at a time. It gives you a choice of locations and appointment times and you choose both the first and second jabs before going on to the confirmation pages. After entering your phone number and email address twice you are taken to a final summary page to confirm.
By the time you do this your appointments will have been given to somebody else so you have to go back to the beginning and repeat the process. Only to reach the same situation and have to go back to the start and enter everything again. Eventually you learn not to pick the earliest possible appointments because everybody will be after those.
I then received 14 different texts and five emails most of which told me that my second appointment had been cancelled. Except that it hadn’t. My wife booked hers at the same time but made a mistype and had to go back a couple of stages but the system got confused so she went right back to the beginning but this time was asked for her booking references which she hadn’t actually been given. You can’t get any further without these references.
So we rang the number to see what the situation was and cleared everything up. Be advised that the booking references are shown but in blue text on a blue background and easily missed if you don’t know that they are there.
Anyway, our first jabs were at the same place six miles away and two and a half hours apart. I drove us down and we were both done together with a 15 minute wait in the car park afterwards. Our second dates are 11 weeks and 3/4 days after the first being on separate days. I called the number again and the young man managed to find us two close together three days earlier.
Our surgery called about a week after we had booked online. They would have been more local but two days later so we went with our originals.
The injections are intramuscular in the upper arm and I had no side effects except for a tender ache where the needle had damaged the muscle which is still there even now. My wife thought she had slight wooziness the next day but nothing after that.
We are both relieved and can’t wait for the final ones.

At the end of the day just wait your turn, or if you think you’ve been missed, as Moby said, phone your surgery. Simples

You might be having an argument. I was posting a few simple posts which I thought may have been of interest to some people.Manoverboard wrote: 27 Feb 2021, 10:48We had the ' letter ' but a text came the same day advising that we could go online else phone the surgery, I could provide their number if you still want to argue about itGill W wrote: 27 Feb 2021, 09:58The ‘letter’ is the invite to the online NHS booking system, but not an invitation to the doctors. However, your reply is why I rarely bother with this forum anymore. Even it it’s meant to be funny, it really isn’t when it makes me feel as if there’s always someone ready to pounce on anything I say.
I feel very uncomfortable about posting now, so I doubt it I’ll bother very much at all in future.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
My husband and had a letter this morning calling him for his second jab.I spoke to lady at the vaccination centre in Swansea bay where he went before and she said they are calling those aged 65 at the moment for the first jab, So I shouldnt be long. They are ahead of the curve for the 2nd jab as he only had the first one in February.

Our local paper says that over 60s no longer need to wait for a letter, so I assume the system will let you in to book, if the roll out continues at this pace it won't be long before my eldest son (51) will be getting his invite.

My son is 51 and at the rate they are vaccinating in Luxembourg he’ll be waiting a while before he gets the jab. For a country with a population of just over 625000 they have only vaccinated 5.8%.towny44 wrote: 27 Feb 2021, 13:31Our local paper says that over 60s no longer need to wait for a letter, so I assume the system will let you in to book, if the roll out continues at this pace it won't be long before my eldest son (51) will be getting his invite.

Taken my husband for his second Pfizer jab this morning. Early start as his appointment was 8.45 am.
So that's him all done and dusted.

That’s better than Malaysia Jan. Our son lives in KL - their borders have been closed since last March, mandatory quarantine in a Government facility for the very chosen few with good reason that are allowed in. They have said borders will not reopen until 70% of the population have been vaccinated - they started last Wednesday!Jan Rosser wrote: 27 Feb 2021, 18:06My son is 51 and at the rate they are vaccinating in Luxembourg he’ll be waiting a while before he gets the jab. By the time they expect to reach 70%, next Spring, it will have been nearly three years since we last saw him.

I'm so sorry to hear that Gill - I hope he is a lot better now. I just have to keep telling myself I will see them again soon but today the cruise with my son and family living up in the north west of England has been cancelled so I am very disappointed. It was going to be a celebratory cruise - my granddaughter is 18 in June, my son and wife celebrating 25 years of marriage and her parents 60 years and she is 50 in September. My granddaughter ever optimistic had just bought the most ridiculously high strappy shoes - only for wearing on a cruise she tells me - I'm afraid she'll have to wait a bit longer !!!GillD46 wrote: 03 Mar 2021, 17:28You must be like me then, totally inconsolable especially as our son has had very serious health issues.

Re: Who Has Been Vaccinated?
Had my AZ jab yesterday.
I didn't feel a thing and drew no blood either. I'm questioning myself that I actually had it!
I tried to watch the vaccine being injected, but the jabber's hands/fingered blocked the view.
Woke up this morning with just an ache in the jabbed arm but I'm unsure it that was due to the clout with the bedroom doorframe I had when I got up in the middle of the night!
Daft I know, but I almost feel a little bit cheated.
