Re: Current Affairs
It is very sad about Sarah Everard who disappeared last Wednesday, but the knock on effect has been like the black lives matter hitting the news.
All of a sudden woman are at risk of leaving the house. Yes there have been instances of woman being abused from just a wolf whistle to being attacked at night. Agreed that something should be done, and it's down to the courts to set an example to deter someone from offending.
But a Baroness from the green party suggest every man should come under cerfew, in a free country, she must be having a laugh.
News report.........
Green Party peer Baroness Jones told the House of Lords yesterday that the introduction of a 6pm curfew for men would make women feel safer at night.

Now, the Mr Drakeford has confirmed he would consider taking such action in some circumstances.

It would be lovely to have Gills input again, don’t you think?
I still read the forum, but I’ve stopped commenting, as I’m no longer comfortable to do so.
Even the mention of my name provoked a snotty comment - which indicates to me that I’ve made the correct decision

My heart, as I’m sure every other person’s heart goes out to the family of Sarah Everard RIP. This dreadful event is upsetting in the extreme and has played on my mind for the past few days. I honestly don’t know how you pull your life together after something like this…it’s so sad.
…….
Yes! There have been quite a few dumb comments this past few days and her comment is right up there with the best of them. That being said no woman should have to feel vulnerable when out walking at night, therefore I think it right that the question of how we challenge the problem needs further discussion and action.
I personally would like to see as all streets public areas covered by surveillance cameras which I believe would deter most snatch and grab sex offenders from committing such heinous crimes.

With regard to Sarah Everard am I the only one who thinks that this was totally avoidable. It is claimed that she was last seen going home "after visiting a friend" but during the lockdown restrictions she should not have been out visiting a friend.

Agree, and the first thing I mentioned to the boss. On the other hand some might say she was in a bubble with her friends household.
Personally I think all this bubble lark is a load of nonsense.

As for the officer detained allegedly for the crime and hurting his head, I wonder how that came about. Lost his balance I suspect.

It’s a very good point David but we all know total adherence to the rules will never happen.
The hysteria is gathering pace but let’s remember,it’s not all men and yes,one is too many.
I have dealt with numerous Murderers and sex offenders, I will never understand them.
Perhaps the good Baroness could suggest a 6pm curfew for women.?

I assume the snotty comment remark was directed at me Gill, but since I was the only one to mention you, then it could hardly be described as provoking it.
