What's on your desk

Unread post by Kendhni »

Having been working from home for almost a year now I really like it - hopefully it will remain the norm. I was struggling a bit with the amount of desk space so decided to fork out for a whole new home office (when I say 'I forked out' it was really the company that paid for it) - which I spent part of the weekend getting wired in and all the cables hidden (thank goodness for j-channel and velcro) and disposing of my old desks.

So I now finally have everything in easy reach including company laptop (that I Used to have to set up in a separate room).

Everything you would expect for household billing etc, plus a load of junk mail my wife leaves about.

We’ve just ordered two, two-seater sofas for the lounge…. And as our daughters contract looks like its going to get extended, we are thinking of refurbishing her bedroom.

Anything else you want to know…Nosey parker? :)

For my office I used to have a 5' 6" desk with drawers on either side but it wasn't enough.

Now I have approx 20 feet of ' L ' shaped worktop, 12 drawers in units under the worktops, a mini stack of 8 drawers on an upper shelf, a cupboard and approx 20 feet of integrated shelving but it isn't enough
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

I hope you have more luck with your sofas than we’ve had.! Ordered a 3 seat leather sofa from Parker Knoll and a Reclining swivel chair from Ercol, 2 good British brands. Hmmm.

The sofa had 3 different levels of firmness, technician replaced all 3 supplied by manufacturer. No difference, one seat is like sitting on the floor, obviously a frame problem, well it’s going back and We’ll expect a full refund.

The chair arrived last week. Nice brown leather and wood. Unfortunately when it reclines the foot rest doesn’t come out, had to pull it out manually, also the seat pads are out of line, you can see right through to the floor in one back corner and the front doesn’t align. Technician coming on Wednesday. It too will be going back.

Buy British they shout.! Well either we’ve just been unlucky or British workmanship is crap. These are supposedly 2 reputable companies.

As far as I’m concerned you can’t buy hardly anything these days without there being something wrong with it. If you do then your one of the lucky ones.

My office was taken over when my eldest daughter came back to study here rather than be in one tiny room. So I am nomadic between my office/her room and my sofa. At the moment i have a lot of Oasis posters in front of me and fragrances on the desk. 😂

Hi Screwy…. that’s disappointing to say the least.

The two sofas we have ordered are to complement the other one we already have. I do have reservations as the two we have ordered were advertised as end of range…but for three hundred pounds (each) cheaper we are prepared to take the risk.
Our house is like an off shoot of Oak Furniture land as most of our rooms are furnished with their stuff (including our hopefully soon to be delivered sofas)

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a good result and on that note, I hope your situation gets sorted to your satisfaction.
