Thornton's has gone

Unread post by oldbluefox »

Sorry to hear that Thornton's is no more.

In past days I used to love their brazil nut toffee until it started pulling my fillings out but it was delicious. Sadly I felt the quality of their chocolate was not as good as I remember in the past but nevertheless it's sad to see a business which was founded in Sheffield in 1911 has now disappeared from our High Street.

The story says they're closing all their shops. But I'm hoping it means their products will still be available through other outlets.

Apricot creams for me.
I used to pop in on my lunch hour sometimes and treat myself to a small bag .

They are owned by Ferrero Rocher and will continue to offer online sales, and their products will be available in supermarkets.

I used to enjoy going in their shops (especially if they were selling mis-shapes - 3 bags for £5!!). Their continental selection was usually pretty good especially the champagne truffles which went first.

Sadly there's no Hotel Chocolat anywhere near.

Not my favourite choccies. I am rather partial to Cadbury’s fruit and nut though

Had their Continental range for many years but we have now moved on to Hotel Chocolat ... our nearest outlet is Bath but they do deliver, in fact our rum soaked Raisin Chocs arrived yesterday :shlurp:

Not as many as you would like for the price, ditto cherries, but as a treat their stuff takes some beating

Their Easter eggs were the best, pricey but very moorish.
