The more immediate question appears to be ‘is everyone going to test themselves twice a week’ ?
If it permits me to have something resembling a "normal" life then yes but if it makes no difference to what I can do then no

If only there was an NHS app that worked for us
I assume that you are referring to NHSNI in which case it is a bit unfair to imply that the UK Government have not "got their act together" when in fact NHS England has and it is NHS NI that has not.
There is no such thing as NHSNI there is the HSC which is part of the NHS - however the NHS has failed to extend many of their systems to HSC (over the decades - not just now). The HSC did produce a track and trace system (it is claimed to be effective, but I have my doubts - I don't call 9-5 Mon-Fri 'effective').

Interestingly it appears a new variant has raised its head in America. There is very little information about it except that it seems to target the younger generation. That might prevent any responsible grand ma and grand pa from visiting their little moon pies. I have heard no reports of it over here yet.

An interesting question. If it is required for day-to-day living then, like David and others, I guess I will have no choice but to agree to it.
As far as travel is concerned though, it may not affect us (we retain the right to freedom of movement) however others may have to do such testing to travel anywhere outside of the UK. On the other hand P&O or an airline could say all passengers must produce valid tests in which case we will all be in the same boat (or plane ... as the case may be).

At the end of the day we can all speculate until we’re blue in the face, but if new rules come into place in some form or other then we will have to conform or we don’t travel. Simple

Covid passports: Plans criticised by MPs amid fears of 'two-tier Britain' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56645208

Would it not be an idea if MPs were to get the views of their constituents rather than expressing their own opinions?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56645208

This report states that in a poll of the public the majority are in favour of Covid passports but a large number of MPs are against them. Perhaps the MPs need to be mindful that it is the public that elect them!

Problems will only exist for those not willing to conform, anyone who legitimately cannot have the vaccine will be catered for in some way or another, similarly those without smart phones will be able to have some other form of certificate.

They will be the ones who will create the most fuss, impinging on civil liberties, loss of freedom, authoritarian state etc etc.
The rest of us will just get on with it.

I don't get the argument that a passport would be discriminatory or divisive or two tier. Vaccines are free of charge. Provided a passport is not required until everyone has had the opportunity to have a vaccine and have a provision for those who cannot have one they would only discriminate against those who choose not to have one and are happy to put themselves and others at risk. That's fair though for me. I want the civil liberty to go out without risk.

That may actually work for us, not mygp, but possibly access through our surgery site.
At the minute we have a piece of card with the vaccine type, batch number and dates.
I have a friend who could print off as many of those cards as you wanted.
An adjunct then to him/her printing ISIC cards

I always listen when three of my learned friends are all in agreement but I have to disagree with how you think a covid passport will allow you more freedom to get on with your lives. This of course would be true if it weren’t for the fact that any glitch in a system will put doubt in peoples minds as to who they are sitting next too at theatres or football grounds etc. The Government might get away with the first reported case of a technological hitch or perhaps fraudulent paper certificates but two or three glitches and you’ll all be looking over your shoulder thinking….

Anyway, none of us should worry cos it isn’t going to happen other than for perhaps international travel.

Aintree starts Thursday..enjoy!! :D
