Not me, but our local papers headline showing a couple of sad gits who were queued outside Primark at 3am.A massive queue at the time that they opened at 07.00
Don't worry, be happy

Re: Retail Therapy
I really cannot see the need to be queuing at 7 am for shops to open, nor going to the pup at midnight just because you can.
It is this attitude/mentality that will end up slowing down the rest of the unlocking of restrictions.

Tomorrow we will have to walk quite close to a parade of open shops on the way to have our jabs, hope they give us appropriate clearance or that the marshals will rope off our route to 'n' from the Health Centre.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

I have no need to go out to the shops at the moment but when I do it will be with mask and hand gel within easy reach.

I've told Trish there's been a last minute change and Boris has said they're not open after all.
Now I'm socially distancing in case she finds I lied.

Re: Retail Therapy
The only time I've ever done anything that daft was when I bought a new car for 1 August 1985. I'd actually ordered it earlier but it came late and the garage said if they kept it another two weeks we could have the new reg. So I did and they delivered it to my drive, reminding me it wouldn't be road legal until 1 August. So I was sat in it on my drive waiting for the pips at midnight on 31 July so I could set off as soon as I was allowed. It was a Fiesta XR2, the sportiest thing I'd ever owned, and I was off on the A45 in Northamptonshire giving it some welly with Bruce Springsteen banging out on the cassette player, the first time Id had one of those in a car.david63 wrote: 12 Apr 2021, 10:35I really cannot see the need to be queuing at 7 am for shops to open, nor going to the pup at midnight just because you can.

I remember them, nice little motors. Way behind my means even though they were priced at almost pocket money prices then going by today’s prices.

Not sure why you need "marshals" to rope off a route to the health centre, or anywhere else for that matter. Just follow the rules of social distancing.Manoverboard wrote: 12 Apr 2021, 10:39Tomorrow we will have to walk quite close to a parade of open shops on the way to have our jabs, hope they give us appropriate clearance or that the marshals will rope off our route to 'n' from the Health Centre.

Re: Retail Therapy
In central Bournemouth there is little to attract us to the shops now. M&S, Beales, Debenhams etc, all gone. Car parking is expensive. The whole town is run down. We go to the smaller suburban town areas of Broadstone, Ferndown, Westbourne or Christchurch if we want real shops. The out of town shopping centre Castle Point is a concrete monstrosity.

Re: Retail Therapy
It's not that simple. We will have an allocated covered section in the Car Park but the pavements are narrow on both sides of the street with pedestrians plus jabies going in both directions as well as randomly criss crossing one side to the other. When we went for our first jab there was a queue right up against the shop windows due to the torrential rain albeit sans shoppers. Basically there isn't room for effective social distancing rules unless there is an element of control in place. So ... a scrum down for the shoppers and designated routings for the jabees is what I hope to see.david63 wrote: 12 Apr 2021, 12:42Not sure why you need "marshals" to rope off a route to the health centre, or anywhere else for that matter. Not for me. I’m having my other cataract replaced on Thursday and I’ve just had my Covid test today so I have to self-isolate until it’s done.
Opening up the shops will make no difference to the number of infections but if you’re worried about it then you’re welcome to stay at home and watch it all from a distance.

Sound like the venue isn’t fit for purpose.

Re: Retail Therapy
I called into the local charity shop today, the lady in charge peeped out from a mountain of bags and advised me that they had received so many donations you are now restricted to 2 bags per day.
Before our house move as we de-clutter, it looks like being a fairly regular journey.

I thought that when we went for the first jab, in fact our flu jab in a pub was more suited.Stephen wrote: 12 Apr 2021, 14:21Sound like the venue isn’t fit for purpose.Manoverboard wrote: 12 Apr 2021, 13:32It's not that simple. Re: Retail Therapy
Actually the Marshals did a cracking job this time, we were all routed whereby the going in jabbees couldn't mix with the shoppers or the coming out jabees like wot they did the last time. Better still was that we had no side effects at all with the second jabdavid63 wrote: 13 Apr 2021, 21:55Looks as if the marshals were not doing such a good job - no sign of Moby since he went for his jabManoverboard wrote: 12 Apr 2021, 10:39Tomorrow we will have to walk quite close to a parade of open shops on the way to have our jabs, hope they give us appropriate clearance or that the marshals will rope off our route to 'n' from the Health Centre.![]()
Strangest thing however ... we went into the building, it was our turn after the elderly gent in front of us but there was a bit of a hold up because the elderly lady in front of him was presenting a problem. The staff couldn't use their forehead guns to take her temperature in spite of changing the batteries and the units a couple of times, they worked perfectly well on everybody else. Assumed they stuck a thermometer up her b** after we had passed by ... but why didn't it work I wondered ?
Any ideas ?
