Where is Aurora

Unread post by jay-ell71 »

I have put this in the Aurora page, but perhaps this is better??

On the web cam it says Aurora is at sea and her next port is Civitaveccia, but she is clearly in port and has been for several days.. Is she having repairs somewhere? Where? I have friends on board and just wondered what is going on. Jay

there's a problem with her webcam - also with Adonia which keeps flicking back to Barcelona!

Webcams are not always up to date and very unreliable.

Last year when one of the ships visited Liverpool, the webcam and locator still showed her as being in Liverpool for a couple of days after she had left. This naturally led to speculation that some scouser had nicked them while she was in port!

It looked as though she had been stuck in the Suez canal for a few days but she would now appear to have escaped and is heading into the med towards Italy, having apparently left her webcam behind :)

Just had a look at the location map in "webcams". Aurora would appear to have gone back into the Suez canal to retrieve her camera. :? :eh:

Don't worry! Today we are in Civitavecchia. Right now we are having a cappuccino in the main square in Orvieto. Wine tasting later :)

Oh, you have no idea what a relief that is, Bob - we thought you had been hi-jacked :D

Not much further to go - I'm sure you will be delighted to be home. Spring is almost here.

Bad luck Bob. Apparently the ship has left you and returned to Suez. I know it's true. I read it on here.

On our way back to the ship now (if it's still there). What a glorious day! Clear blue skies and temperatures in the lower 20s. Jus Lisbon left for Sunday, forecast is about the same at the moment. :)

Phew, she's still here! Back on board after a lovely day. This has been an exceptionally good cruise. Full report once I get back home.

I'm not worried about where she is today, just so long as her unreliable webcam is up to date and showing her in Southampton on 26th July.

ho ho ho

Anyone else getting a look in at the individual quiz this time, Bob? Spotted Aurorabore on the 2-nighter on Azura this week but we were too busy in the Glass House to make the quizzes !

I've not done too badly, 9 gold stickers so far, but I don't think I'm going to get the digital radio and there's only so many thermos flasks you can use. There are some good teams on here who have had over three months of practice but I did win the syndicate quiz on my own one night and once again with some fellow quizzers. The Porta Palo wine doesn't get any better.

Lisbon today: fabulously sunny and in the lower twenties. We took the train to Cascais and then walked along the promenade to Estoril for a lunch at a seaside restaurant. Bread & cheese to start, then grilled sardines washed down by a litre of sangria and a half-litre carafe of vinho verde. Train back to town and a couple of hours on deck watching the boats come and go. It was the Lisbon marathon today and Sunday, of course, so I suspect that the town centre was a bit quieter than usual. I'll find out later from the others.

It looks as though she's almost made it, with or without a webcam :) Southampton tomorrow or Thursday? - looking forward to reports from all the new "worldies" - including emjay45 (with or without the AK47). Will she find us, do you think?

Well, Aurora's webcam seems to think she's in Southampton today; but then Adonia's is once again showing her to be back in Barcelona!!

It changed twice whilst I was watching it earlier - first blank, then at Southampton and then back at sea. Captain must be really putting her through her paces !!
