A time for us all to remember and reflect. A sad time but also a happy one as we remember, not the sad times but the good times when we laughed and smiled. The Lord can take away our loved ones but he cannot take away our memories.

As a widow of over 14 years I can honestly say that whatever you think it will be like to lose your partner is absolutely nothing like the reality of the unimaginable grief and loss you feel. I’ve cried over the last few days reliving my loss and feeling sorry for myself and angry - typical reactions but I wasn’t subjected as the Queen is to so much scrutiny. At the end of the day she is a human being like us all and needs love and support after losing her husband of 73 years.
What a moving post. While I am fortunate enough to still have my husband and children, like many I have lost my parents and to think of grief even more than that is totally unimaginable.

RIP Sir.

And RIP to all those no longer with us.
Gill

Why were there permitted to be such a large number at the remembrance service for the Duke of Edinburgh in Canterbury today, cannot remember the exact number but it was well over 100. If that is OK under covid rules, why will his funeral numbers be limited to 30?

There's nothing much I would wish to add. We try not to think about losing each other except in jest but we do sometimes wake up in the middle of the night holding hands. Apart from family the Queen has an army of little helpers, I do hope it helps her cope a little better than I think I would.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Stop it Mob, if this carries on, I’m going to be a blubbering wreck by this evening.

Sad though HRH's departure was it was hardly unexpected.
A certain amount of respect and reflection on TV and the media was to be expected but did the BBC really have to be showing the same programme about him on BBC1, BBC2 and BBC news 24 simultaneously ?

If they keep pumping this stuff out, they’ll have us all believing this was a marriage made in heaven and not as some believe a constitutional arrangement

Probably why she’s wearing gloves. Doesn’t want all that dribble on her skin.

My husband was recalling a moment yesterday in regard to state funerals.
His father was a very senior policeman in the British Transport police. He was on duty for the state funeral of Winston Churchill. All was going to plan in the rehearsal the train driver pulled up amazingly right on the white line painted on the platform, trouble was the lead lined coffin was so heavy the wagon doors couldn't open.
Adjustments had to be made quickly.

I like the fact that his wishes are being respected and will travelling in a adjusted land rover to his final resting place.

Good on you Sir

I wonder if Land Rover have a team of mechanics on standby at Windsor with a complete set of spare parts?

The suggestion I've seen is a 'soft' Regency with HM still on the throne but Charles taking over more day to day duties.
